That’s a beautiful gun, and it looks hefty enough to minimize recoil.

I don’t see the required key in that picture.
Remember, always shoot pictures of S&W revolvers from the right side so the lock doesn’t scare off any buyers.

Herschel, what’s the purpose of the rail up front? I’m not being facetious, but the proliferation of rails on firearms is becoming a bit odd. It seems just by hand position it would be difficult to reach a light up there, or any other accessory. Hope you get to take that monster to the range soon!

Been at the range. Nice weapon. S&W wanted to compete with the 1911 line for an entry weapon for SWAT teams. They knew that they would have to give an equal number of rounds (8) plus a rail for light in order to do that.

If I was going to have a pistol caliber carbine, it would be best if it was a .357 magnum. I like the round. Of course, having my M1 Carbine is mighty close. The rounds are similar.

It holds eight? That’s a lot of bang in case things go bump in the night…

It is a beautiful weapon, and is unmatched in accuracy (IMO) in single action. I quite like the weapon, and it makes the .357 quite manageable opposed to something shorter.
However, I mounted my SA XD .40’s tac light to the rail. You can’t reach the rocker switch. I still want one.
