I Carry S&W 686
BY Herschel Smith7 years ago
From the “I carry” series. It’s a nice presentation, but I do have a few nits after you watch the video.
First of all, I don’t like Kydex holsters. Like you, I have a box full of holsters, and none of them are Kydex. I don’t even like Kydex knife sheaths. I much prefer leather or Cordura.
I like the tactical light, and I really like the speed loader. I have a different belt (Black Hawk Rigger’s Belt), but like the video I recommend a good belt as the foundation. I’m not much on short fixed blade knives. If I’m going to carry a fixed blade knife it’s going to he a large one. Otherwise, I like a rugged folder, and it MUST have serrations.
Here’s an equally interesting video on ten things you didn’t know about the S&W 686.

I have a number of leather holsters, I use none of them today. I have one leather holster that cost well over $100.00, it’s unused.
The reason I abandoned leather is that the holster closes up after the weapon is drawn, which means you can’t reholster without assistance from your weak side hand, and looking at the holster.
With my kydex holsters, I have at least four, I can reholster without two hands and without taking my eyes away from the search for secondary assailants, which does not end even when I reholster.
The only revolver I carry is my 360PD, which doesn’t require I use a holster.

Evan is quite the salesman. Now I want the S&W 686…and the holster! Good God! Now I think I need a .357 for my forays into the big (and dangerous) city of Anchorage. My .44 is a little hard to conceal, so more times than not, I’ll leave it in the truck. I like the seven-up wheel. How cool is that! And it looks like it’s built heavy framed…like all magnums should be. I’m a big fan of revolvers. Like to control the brass, as it were. No need to be littering after a shooting I always say. Littering is illegal.
As a side note; for me, a .357 magnum would not qualify as an Alaskan bush gun. But for the MUCH MORE DANGEROUS, nasty, and loathsome creature of the Anchorage bush, it is just the right repellent for car-jackers, opium dealers, tattooed SJWs, murderers, and Polynesian gang-bangers. Anchorage has become one of the most dangerous city’s in America….because….”diversity is our strength.” Well…revolvers are my strength, so there.

@Mr. Hines,
I have a gun belt from them. Best belt I ever owned. I ended up sending back the OWB holster that I ordered at the same time. Good, but didn’t suit me. The refund was prompt and full.
