Woman Arrested For Taking In Animals Abandoned During Hurricane Florence Without A Permit
BY Herschel Smith6 years, 3 months ago
WAYNE COUNTY, North Carolina (KTRK) — A woman in North Carolina was arrested after trying to save pets during Hurricane Florence.
With severe flooding on the way, Tammie Hedges said she took in more than two dozen pets when their owners evacuated.
She runs an animal rescue called “Crazy’s Claws ‘n Paws,” but had not yet finished building her shelter.
She said she took the animals in anyways so they’d have a dry place to stay.
“Their owners were just going to leave them in a flood zone on chains. We don’t want that,” she said.
Animal services has since taken the pets and are now trying to find their owners.
Tammie has also been charged with practicing medicine without a veterinary license.
Better to have let them perish than risk the officers’ lives effecting the arrest. If I was them, I would have sent in the SWAT team, shot all the dogs, and beaten the hell out of her for good measure.
I’m just glad the cops all went home safely at the end of their shift. That’s what really matters here.

Quite frankly, I wouldn’t be surprised if the animals have been “euthanized” by now.
Piggies need some target practice, ya know.

They should charge all the pet owners with felony animal negligence for leaving their animals with an unlicensed shelter instead of leaving the dogs to drown.
Either way the state could have charged them and gotten them into the system as felons. More people “in the system” is more important than the lives of a few dogs.
We have thousands of “Justice system” employees who need those fees and fines to maintain their lifestyles.
Maybe we need some “Justice system” employee commercials with Sarah McLachlan showing a sad faced Ted the probation officer looking scared and hungry as he is laid off and has to find honest work. “With your felony, Ted can continue living the cushy life and will never have to sweat or get a callus on his hands. Please commit a felony today.”

This occurred, presumably, during a declared State Of Emergency (yea, yea, I know what y’all think about that term). But, the question is, does that not absolve Ms. Hedges of the need for any ‘permit’ for her actions?

ExpatNJ – No. “Declared State of Emergency” only means that the government ‘corporation’ can Ignore the Constitution and its own ‘laws’ more than it usually does. And I have No Doubt that any of those Animals not Claimed by their Owners from the ‘Animal Services’ agency within 48 Hours WILL be killed.

Why not shoot her too while you’re at it?

Well at least the charges against her have been dropped:

And supposedly the animals are still alive as well.
