Police Arrest Man For Filming Raid, Then Shoot His Dog In Front Of Him

Professor Reynolds co-authored the paper A Due Process Right To Record The Police, while he also points to Morgan Manning’s article on photographers’ rights. But the constitution matters not to the Hawthorne, California police department, who arrested a man for filming a raid, drawing out a protective dog and then shooting the dog in front of him.
As I’ve written before, you have no right to invade my home or kill my beasts. You can add to that list “arrest me for photographing you, you bunch of statist, totalitarian thugs.”
Oh, and add to that the fact that I think the officer is a pussy. I wouldn’t have had to shoot the dog to get control of it.

Looks like this was another bullshit war on *some* drugs Gestapo raid, then they arrest the dog’s owner for a -LEGAL- activity, photographing/videoing government officials on ‘duty’.

The officers became angry and allowed their anger to govern their actions. They became flustered and made an abrupt decision to take away the man’s freedom of movement. They accosted a dog’s owner unduly and the dog performed its obligation to protect its owner while showing more restraint than the officers.
If they had not let their emotions control their behavior, they could (and should) have assessed the situation before rushing headlong in to it. They would have asked the individual to roll the windows up in the car, had a polite discussion with him about the noise level of his stereo (which didn’t seem to be a problem until they had already quickened to anger) and gone on their way. That is to presume they had any business with the man in the first place.
The absurdity of toy soldiers running around our neighborhoods is on display for all to see here. What’s more absurd is that we have allowed the police, who serve at our leisure, to arm themselves to the teeth and employ people who cannot control their emotions.
This will continue until we set and enforce consequences and policy on officers and departments. The first step should be stripping officers of their immunity. They will not cease this behavior of their own volition.

First of all, they had no valid reason to try and arrest that man, thats why they let him go a few hours later. Secondly…..Anyone with 1/2 a brain can see the dog was not being aggressive. In fact, the full video shows the dog being obedient and listening to directions from his owner. These so called “trained and educated” officers should have noticed all the windows open on the vehicle they “ordered” the man to put the dog into!!!! The dog saw his owner in trouble and in a situation he probably never saw before……so the dogs natural reaction was to run to help his owner!!!! In my opinion, the officers instigated the situation and unjustifiably killed the dog. If this was a white guy, in a white neighborhood, taking video of an incident, the cops would have walked away and left the guy alone! Shame on these cowards!! They are the very reason why people have no respect for police officers anymore!!
