Militarization Of Police Intended To Handle Returning Veterans!

News From Indiana (via David Codrea):
In an interview with Fox 59, a Morgan County, Indiana Police Sergeant admits that the increasing militarization of domestic police departments is partly to deal with returning veterans who are now seen as a homegrown terror threat.

Downing’s admission that the armored vehicles are partly about combating the threat posed by returning veterans correlates with similar rhetoric at the federal level.
An April 2009 DHS intelligence assessment listed returning vets as likely domestic terrorists. Just a month later, the New York Times reported on how Boy Scout Explorers were being trained by the DHS to kill “disgruntled Iraq war veterans” in terrorist drills.
The FBI has also repeatedly characterized returning veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan as a major domestic terrorist threat.
Good grief! First of all, returning veterans aren’t the problem – militarized police are. Second, if returning veterans did decide to take matters into their own hands, if this idiot thinks that a bunch of fat ass, unqualified, keystone cop goofballs like Amerikan police would be able to handle combat veterans, he is living in fantasy world – a world of his own making because he wasn’t man enough to go to the sand box and do it himself.
Loud mouth coward.

When it comes to organized violence to achieve a limited goal my money would be on a handful of combats vets against a larger group of police any day. With or without a weapon disparity.
I think what scares cops is combat vets have seen the elephant.

5,000,000 crazy redneck teenagers led by thousands of combat vets. Maybe a Grant emerges,I like those odds!

What is wrong with cops like Downing? Do they live in an alternate reality?
Boy scouts are going to “handle” disgruntled Iraq/Afghan vets? WTF?
Those who think like Downing are in for a very, very rude awakening if/when everything goes to shit.

Boy Scouts and Explorers are different organizations. Explorers are more like what police departments used to call “cadets”. Agree completely that they would be no match for the typical middle aged policeman, let alone a combat MOS Marine or Soldier after a single term of enlistment.
Imho, non-gang-affiliated returning Veterans are no danger at all to the lawful operation of the USA, but military-trained gang members are a huge threat. The Pentagon as well as TSA/HS need to identify and track such returning military personnel. Oh, and how about not allowing them to enlist in the first place.
The danger the current corrupt gov’t faces is that many returning vet’s are believers in a literal interpretation of the law (US Constitution, as written and plainly understood at the time of the writing, not as-tortured interpretations post-1934), as the UCMJ has been literally interpreted for them. This will turn out really poorly for the banksters and their crony personnel at all levels of society.

Boy Scouts from my Troop were pre-Veterans, and are not going to attack them (more likely: ask for better training). We will know them by their actions, not their uniforms.
Of course, that was the late 1970’s and 1980’s, when my recruiter properly asked “Have you been or are you now a homosexual or a member of the Communist Party?”. As a Boy Scout, I not only knew the correct answer and understood the consequences of these things, I answered truthfully.
