I-594 Backers Plan To Ask Legislature For New Gun Laws
BY Herschel Smith9 years, 12 months ago
Buoyed by the passage of Initiative 594 last month, backers of stricter gun laws will press state lawmakers for additional measures aimed at keeping guns away from children, mentally ill persons and domestic abusers.
In what they vowed will be a long-term campaign, activists at a Thursday news conference at Plymouth Church in Seattle said they’ll push “evidence-based” policies to reduce gun violence — and hold legislators politically accountable if they don’t take action.
But their agenda was questioned by a prominent gun-rights advocate, who accused gun-control opponents of overreach.
Among the proposals for the 2015 legislative session:
• Criminal penalties for adults who fail to safely store guns, if the firearms are obtained by children who shoot themselves or others.
• New gun-violence protection orders to remove guns from persons showing signs of dangerous mental illness.
• Adding certain violent misdemeanors — such as domestic violence — to the list of crimes barring persons from purchasing guns.
• More funding for mental-health services.
• Policies to address health risks from lead at firing ranges.
• Alerting domestic-violence victims when guns previously removed by police are returned to offenders.
And so it goes. It never stops with the first infringement, because the first infringement is merely something they think will pass with flying colors with the collectivist public because it all sounds oh-so-reasonable. If they have their way, the Gestapo will be busting down doors to collect guns.
The statist evil of Bloomberg/Gates must be stopped.

Bloomy’s and Bill Gates big win on I-594 was a one off . We had a school shooting north of Seattle where 4 were killed . That occurred nine days before the election . The Libtards do not control the State Senate and they barely control the State House . All initiatives have an expiration date of 2 years and I-594 will spend most of that time in court .
Bloomy and Billy know all this so they want to stuff gun confiscation down other States before the bloom comes off the I-594 rose . The Democrats want to do an end run around I-594 by quickly passing stop gap gun restrictions in the hopes they can buffalo the Republicans. We have all seen what happens to politicians on guns in Colorado so there will few gun changes in Washington State .

Closer than you think. Comiefornia is creeping north. We’re starting to see the same collectivist crap here in Oregun.

There are two things the anti-gunners have included that will be used in conjunction with one another: mental health/domestic violence.
Also, note the part about guns being returned to domestic violence offenders. As if cops will return guns to begin with. Once the cops have your guns, good luck getting them back. However, it makes it sound like guns will be returned once things have settled down.
With more money put toward mental health screening, it’s but a short step to requiring someone charged (not convicted) with “domestic violence” to take some sort of “domestic violence intervention” course. And, I’m quite sure the “domestic violence intervention” course will be offered in lieu of going to trial. Plea bargain, as it were.
I would not want to be a male married gun owner with children in Washington, should a bill like this pass.
All it takes is for the wife to commit adultery, then claim she fears for the life of her new squeeze and the guys life is completely ruined.
