Jerry Miculek Does .357 Semi-Auto
BY Herschel Smith9 years, 8 months ago
This is a very educational video, with Jerry going over the history of the .357 magnum round and demonstrating what it can do.
Like I said, a great video. But still, a .357 semi-auto? Hmm … I don’t know. I love me a .357 magnum wheel gun. Love me one. I’m just sayin’. Love.

By the way, Jerry’s reference to the “cylinder gap” has to do with the gap between the cylinder and forcing cone.

Just looked them up. $1600-2100 on Gun Broker. The capacity is the same as a revolver, so I guess I don’t see the advantages. I guess if you have the 1911 platform for all of your other handguns, it would keep the consistency…but 2 grand? Wow.

You can even have greater round capacity.
S&W makes 7 and 8 shot .357 revolvers. And with moon clips, reloading is a quick as changing a magazine.

I’m with you, Herschel. I love me a .357 magnum wheel gun too. Specifically a 43 year old S&W Model 28. Takes a licking and keeps on ticking. Looks rough, but the trigger’s smooth. Shoots everything from 38 Special Wadcutters to 357 Magnum 170 gr. Keiths like they had eyeballs. And with snakeshot, works wonders on things that rattle.
True love.

My solution to the .357 Mag semi-auto conundrum was to purchase a .357 Sig; I got higher capacity too. Still I love my .357 Mag wheelguns because they’ll function with cartridges at any energy level.
