Uber Driver With Permit To Carry Shoots Gunman In Chicago’s Logan Square

Authorities say no charges will be filed against an Uber driver who shot and wounded a gunman who opened fire on a crowd of people in Logan Square over the weekend.
The driver had a concealed-carry permit and acted in the defense of himself and others, Assistant State’s Attorney Barry Quinn said in court Sunday.
A group of people had been walking in front of the driver around 11:50 p.m. Friday in the 2900 block of North Milwaukee Avenue when Everardo Custodio, 22, began firing into the crowd, Quinn said.
The driver pulled out a handgun and fired six shots at Custodio, hitting him several times, according to court records. Responding officers found Custodio lying on the ground, bleeding, Quinn said. No other injuries were reported.

Now, go to Google News and search on Logan Square for any other reporting of this event. There is none. America has been saturated with reporting on gun violence and this administration’s call for more gun control, but nothing on the prevention of another mass shooting by a concealed carrier.
It doesn’t fit the narrative, does it? And yet, he didn’t wait for the police (who would have been too late to do anything about it anyway), he didn’t run for cover, he didn’t go wild and shoot up the entire area and kill innocents, but instead he apparently ran towards the sound and laid his own safety aside for that of others.
Who could ask for anything more out of concealed carriers?

As a now former resident of Minnesota, where I carried a firearm for several years, what the Uber driver did in Chicago was illegal in MN. It was call, if I recall properly, ‘inserting oneself into the situation’. Colloquially, a ‘Permit to carry a pistol’ instructor said one may “Come only to the aid of the police, or someone to whom you could donate an organ”. I don’t know has anyone been prosecuted in MN who used the ‘Uber’ insertion, but they are nuts enough in MN I should not be surprised. Once I read a statement from the wife of a man running for a office judicial office that “people do not have a right to defend themselves”. Yes; that’s was I read. As the Garage Logician says, “Minnesota, where everything not mandatory is prohibited”.

I LOVE Garage Logic! I too am a former Minnesotan (residence in MN, stay at cabin year- round in WI). One can clearly see the rapid decline in the once wonderful standard of living in MN, but especially around the Twin Cities area. Detroit, Chicago, Baltimore. Need I say more?

This shooting happened last April (the earliest report I saw was April 18, so it probably happened on the 17th or 18th). It was in the news again because the shooter just had his gun returned to him by the police.
That’s probably why you couldn’t find it. Google (or Yahoo) “chicago uber shooting”.
