Josh Earnest On Guns And The No-Fly List
BY Herschel Smith8 years, 11 months ago
After watching this, I’ve decided that The Captain’s Journal will call for a ban on guns for all one-armed men born on the third Thursday of April. After all, you never know when they will become a terror problem.
Or not.

This exchange betrays the actual motive behind this push. There’s a lot of doublespeak and propaganda. They would turn the “no-fly” list in to a “list-of-people-the-government-is-afraid-of,” and then use that list to circumvent the 1st through 6th constitutional amendments.
The doublespeak comes in with the retention of the name “no-fly,” because it invokes the jingoism of 9/11, and implies a lack of patriotism for any who wouldn’t support this “common-sense” approach to stripping Americans of their liberties.

But also don’t forget that the legislation actually proposed in the Senate (by moonbat Dianne Feinstein [D-CA]) doesn’t reference the “No-Fly” list; instead, it references the “terrorism watch list”, which is an order of magnitude larger and more vague.
Nice bait-and-switch, eh?

Bottom line .The veil is lifted .They want all classes of shot guns, pistols, rifles banned, and confiscated. Maybe Ct [D] im Wit Gov.Dannel Malloy plans to sell all the weapons in civilian hands. To balance another failed budget. The gangster, political class in the District of Criminals / Hartford Ct. Couldn’t give a rats arse about American citizens or public safety, or economic well being. . Not many of them ever served in the U.S. Military. They also wipe their arse with the Constitution /Bill of Rights. No matter what 9/11 ,and Sandy Hook was a false flag, inside job. If not why was the Patriot Act already written before the twin towers and building 7 came down. Also there was$ 3 trillion missing from the Pentagon. But it was never mentioned again. Maybe they should ask the Neocons. Also why did Attorney General Holder spend a week in Ct. Behind closed doors meeting with Malloy and state and local Leo’s. Holder never made any public appearances. This was a few weeks before Sandy Hook went down. So why all the secrecy and gag orders. Just like their no fly/no buy lists. Show me in the Constitution/Bill of Rights anything about secret lists. Being used to strip citizens of their weapons/rights. Gov. Malloy is Obama’s litmus test again.

Why the 1st through the 6th only? There was an interesting video clip of Tray (Trey? sp) Gowdy questioning a DHS person about processes (lack thereof) for American Citizens to NOT be added to the No Fly list. — or the due process before they ARE added. The only process is after the fact, where you apply to get off the list and MAYBE your request will be approved.
An interesting example: The 8th Amendment on Cruel and Unusual Punishments. If we “don’t like you, we’ll put you on our list and subject you to cruel and unusual punishments. We will do this until you apply to get off the list, if we approve your request!!!!”

The 8th amendment is more narrow than how you’re interpreting it.
I really should have limited my statement to the 2nd, 5th, and 6th amendments, but it was easier to write “1st through 6th.”

So much fail.
At 0:42: “Let’s take the ‘No-Fly, No-Buy’ loophole. I think it’s common-sense — the President believes it is common-sense — and it’s in our national security interests to prevent those who are deemed by the government too dangerous to board an airplane … we should pass a law that prevents those people from purchasing a gun, until such time as they can resolve the concerns the governement has about their potential links to terrorism. There is a process that is administered by the Department of Homeland Security for those concerns to be considered and resolved, and again, when it comes to gun safety, that seems like a pretty common-sense step.” [emphasis added]
Sure, except that those same “national security interests” preclude DHS from confirming or denying that you are on that list, or why you might be there, or what you could do to be removed, and so that process is bunk. To my knowledge, one person has successfully challenged it and been removed, and he spent years and hundreds of thousands of dollars in court to do it. For most people, there is no feasible resolution to finding yourself on the “No-Fly” list.
And again at 2:15: “It is not our view that we should wait until someone who’s on the ‘No-Fly’ list walks into a gun store, legally purchases a gun, and kills a bunch of innocent Americans, before we pass a law preventing it. That’s a common-sense view.”
Let me rephrase this a bit:
“It is not our view that we should wait until someone who’s on the “No-Buy” list walks into a book store, legally purchases a Dr. Seuss book, and reads it to a bunch of innocent Americans, before we pass a law preventing it. That’s a common-sense view.”
Yeah, sure it is, Josh.
