$3000 Versus $1000 AR-15

Informative video. In the end, if you make it that far, I think they reach the right conclusion. AR-15s (and their parts) have become so reliable that it makes little difference now. The point of diminishing returns is reached very soon (the sweet spot is < $1500).

I built my own rifle over the course of about 2.5 years. Watching out for sales on parts, and eventually had all the parts together to put together an AR that cost me roughly $1000, but it looks, shoots and feels every bit as good as a much more expensive rifle. It has been %100 reliable and was a fun project to do with my oldest offspring. Makes a nice addition to my off the shelf M4gery which roughly cost the same.
