NFA, SBRs, Suppressors And MGs

From Reddit/r/Firearms commenter:
Step 1)
Elect RepublicansStep 2) Hearing Protection Act <— now here
Step 3) Show that scary NFA items aren’t inherently more dangerous and their deregulation doesn’t increase crime
Step 4) Remove SBRs from NFA
Step 5) Repeat step 3
Step 6) Allow new registration of post-86 MGs under NFA
Step 7) Repeat step 3
Step 8) Remove MGs from NFA, repeal NFA
Yep. That’s what I’ve been trying to say. It has to be done in stages, boys and girls. Be patient, but diligent. Keep pressing, never give up. Grass roots activism is our friend. Inch by inch, step by step.

If you guys want to press for changes to federal regulations I’m with in spirit but I’m staying where am at. I will continue to push at the state level and find for new and first time shooters. I’ve got 3 young men 13, 15, 15 and mom headed to the range this month.
I’ll continue to work for constitutional and open carry and repeal of gun free kill zones at the state level. We’re winning, I simply pray congress doesn’t ruin our progress with an abominable national carry bill that ends up actually destroying rights.

Well you’re right Fred. Given the propensity for idiocy among the ruling “elite,” they could actually end of doing more harm than good, and attach all manner of crap to the bill that ends up infringing our liberties. Given something easy and clear, the Congress tends to make it hard and obtuse – as long as there is an opportunity for graft and corruption.

I’m very nervous about national concealed carry or whatever it’s called. GOA is backing a version that sounds good but there is almost zero chance it will not be ruined.
We, in the pro gun world, are NOT LOSING. In fact, we are winning big time, one municipality and one state at a time. Our ground game is winning new shooters by the thousands every week and we have legislatures backing down and submitting to our demands in at least 35 states and judges everywhere are finally recognizing what ‘shall not be infringed’ means.
No federal law, EVER, has returned or restored liberty to the people. There is not one instance in which central authority has not gathered more power and control and money unto itself.
One simple example. If concealed carry is passed will judges then say that one may not transport long guns across state lines because that right isn’t GRANTED by congress. Probably. I can think at least 5 other things that could go wrong even if the language in the bill appears to be good on the surface. It’s fraught with danger and again, we are not losing.
You should write and post on the topic.

Myself, I believe the time to disband and eliminate the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms altogether. Just get rid of the BATFE altogether. Then continue the purge by eliminating the IRS, EPA, and on and on and on.

HS (earlier): “Easy and clear … ”
Repeal the law banning the possession of firearms on US Postal Service property. 31 states currently have non-discretionary concealed carry (or “shall-issue” permitting), and another 11 states have legalized unrestricted concealed carry (no permit required for residents). Yet in those 42 states, you cannot lawfully possess a firearm on USPS property — including leaving it locked in your car, in the parking lot. (Not saying that *I* do that, mind you … ) So if you have to stop at the Post Office while out, you technically have to secure your gun at home first, then go to the Post Office.
If the Second Amendment bind the FedGov in the Post Office parking lot … it simply doesn’t bind the FedGov AT ALL.

Same thing with any VA complex, where firearms aren’t allowed, even in the parking lot.
