Republican-Sponsored Citizen Disarmament Bill Headed To Anti-Gun Oregon Governor
BY Herschel Smith7 years, 4 months ago
“Today the Oregon House approved one of the most dangerous, hateful and mean spirited pieces of legislation ever introduced,” Oregon Firearms Federation alerted members Thursday. “SB 719 A, the product of Republican Senator Brian Boquist’s collusion with the most militant anti-gunners in the legislature, will now allow the police to come to your home and confiscate your firearms and ‘deadly weapons’ with no accusation or conviction of a crime.
Got a pissed off former spouse? I don’t, and I’ll never know what that’s like. But some people suffer through that. Or perhaps someone else in your family wants to hurt you. Now there is no waiting, no due process, no hearing, no deliberations, no jury, no nothing. Just do it. Get those guns.
The sponsor is a former Special Forces officer. I don’t care. That means nothing to me. Nor does his high approval ratings from gun rights groups. Gun rights groups are wrong and should take more concern over their accuracy. People can lie, and they can turn. It isn’t clear which he is – a liar or traitor.
You guys in Oregon are looking more and more like the folks in California. At what point do we just write all of this off as a loss and move on? I’m asking honestly. I want reader feedback. How long should we wage the fight in the progressives’ back yard instead of y’all just relocating to free states and working to make sure they stay free?

– The problem is that relocating to free states doesn’t work if the Marxists from occupied territory move to those free states and bring their politics with them. That is largely what has happened in Oregon and other parts of the North West region of the US. Now that Kalifornia has been destroyed by their ideology, Kalifornians cannot stand to live there anymore and move to Oregon and other states which (as yet) do not have the gang crime and the “cultural enrichment” of their former home state.
So, this is why “the guys in Oregon are looking more and more like the folks in California” – California has relocated to Oregon. And this is why “just relocating to free states and working to make sure they stay free” doesn’t work: they will follow you there. The same thing has been happening here in Pennsylvania as well, but we are experiencing our influx of Marxists…er excuse me, “progressives”, from New York and New Jersey (“progressives” have raised the cost of living in New Jersey through the roof thanks to high taxes and impossibly high insurance rates).

Mr. Smith,
Should Oregon just be dismissed as Kaleeforneeya II ? Probably so. On the other hand…Never Give Up.
Besides….where would one relocate to ? Idaho and Wyoming are becoming progressivea shitholes. Texas or Florida ? Hahahaha…. comprende Espanol ? Perhaps Indonesia as they certainly have their ducks in a row providing fUSA with one of the most unconstitutional,Marxist individuals to be annointed POTUS.
Good, God-fearing, Americans are running out of places to relocate to. Your question is not easily answered

No. Not an option; not if we want to win. We’ve done that too often already.
“Relocate and fall back” cannot be our default solution. Eventually, freedom-loving people will be concentrated in a handful of “flyover” states…
… which lack a) the electoral votes to keep a freedom-loving and Constitution-respecting Republican in the White House, and b) the representation in Congress to prevent restrictions on a national scale. We’d get steamrolled by federal legislation the second a Bloomberg-funded Democrat majority and President are elected. The “tyranny of the majority” will be unleashed in full force.
And we cannot continue to rely on SCOTUS to stand up for our rights, either, especially not with lower courts flouting, ignoring, and openly defying the Heller and MacDonald decisions beginning immediately after they were decided, and SCOTUS declining to hear new Second Amendment cases. As above, our judicial gains will be undone as soon as the next Marxist President replaces a Justice or two. Groups like the Second Amendment Foundation do fantastic work, don’t get me wrong, but fighting in court should be our last peaceable option — our Hail Mary, as it were — and not our ONLY option.
No. As much as it sucks (and as an Oregonian, I can say with authority in this case: It DOES suck!), we need to hold the line where we’re at, and whenever possible try to make inroads in the socialist utopias formerly known as California, Oregon, and Washington.
Yes, I’m saying to go on offense. I don’t claim to have all the answers — I’ll have to leave most of the particulars to the people on the ground in those (these) states — but here’s the least everyone else can do: Take your visiting friends and family from those places shooting. Take them to gun shows and talk to people, especially families, and network with the pro-gun groups’ representatives. And since half the Leftist Narrative is how crazy gun-owners are and the other half is how there are NO background checks, NO restrictions, and NO accountability on gun purchases, if you have the opportunity to show them what it really takes to buy a gun, you can prove them both wrong (bonus points if you get a “delay” during the background check and have to leave without a new gun; they’ll see how stupid the system can be when it’s “working”).
I know it’s not a big, flashy victory for freedom (like I said, it’s the least we can do; the easiest option), but do what you can to instill, if not a love, then at least a respect for individual rights. And then let them take that back home.
Our opposition has bought-and-paid-for politicians they pretend are grassroots. We have real grassroots; it’s our greatest strength. Mobilizing our base is like herding kittens — it’s possible, but damn difficult and usually frustrating — but we’ll need to leverage it to win, and for that, we need as many pro-freedom people on board as we can get.
And for the love of all that is holy, call your NRA contacts and start an upward push to get the NRA Board to address “amnesty/citizenship for illegal immigrants” as relevant to their “single issue”. 11+ million newly-minted Democrat voters will be the death of freedom in America.
OK, I’m done for now.

What most here fail to recognize is that most of Oregon minus the larger cities are very conservative. We have a super majority of DEMs here, their a disease, lower then whale shit.
The rules only apply if you except them. I don’t, their is a line in the sand, most down south could care less about rules penned by portlinites and republicans, who are really democrats.
Tic Toc.

Influx from the south is certainly no help. But Oregon has always been one of the most corrupt shitholes god ever allowed to exist. the fact that Bloomberg could walk in to the state house dragging 100 dollars bills and walk out with any legislation he wanted is no surprise to anyone from Oregon.
If Trump were an honest broker, he could easily perp walk 70% of the people in the state capital. it’s systemic here.
I use to root for the Cascadia fault line. thinking that might be the answer.
Lately I’ve set my sights on kingdom come.

“Special Forcces Officer”. Thzt explains it. As a former EM, I recognize the the pathology that creates the person with that big a blind spot. Yes, I remember how dirt stupid many of my fellow enlisted personnel were, and I know that the military tries to select officers for intelligence. Once an officer, they are constantly reinforced, by training and example that it’s their job AND their duty to do “what’s good for you”, and/or what’s required for the mission. That patronizing attitude, along with the (mostly justified, but not always) arrogance of SF explains why a probably otherwise “conservative” legislator would create this. “I know what’s good for you, so shut up and swallow your medicine.”
