Lawmaker Suggest Banning Open Carry Of Rifles
BY Herschel Smith7 years, 1 month ago
DALLAS – A gun-owning Texas Democrat said banning the open carry of long guns or military style rifles might prevent another mass shooting like what happened at a church in Sutherland Springs on Sunday.
“If the gentlemen had not been allowed to carry this weapon openly, maybe somebody calls. Maybe as he’s gearing up and crossing the street from the Valero [gas station], maybe somebody calls and says ‘Hey there’s a guy with an AR 15 [rifle] crossing the street. Send help,” said State Rep. Poncho Nevarez, D-Eagle Pass.
Well that’ll fix the problem, won’t it? Sure, the shooter will stop at the local gas station, “gear up,” and make sure everyone sees him while he’s doing it, enabling a caller to notify the potential victims or the police. I’m sure it’ll happen like that.
The Texas church shooter got out of his vehicle right at the church, left the vehicle running, and there was no indication that he was open carrying because no one was around to see and report it. But hey, as long as we make yet another law that affects only law abiding citizens, we can claim that we’re making the public safer.

Maybe somebody calls the cops? Maybe the cops get there in time (to stop the perp, not do crime scene duty after the crime is done.)
I like the lead -a gun owning… like oh, you own a gun, you must really be an expert… as if.
This Nevarez asshole ousted himself as yet another politician who cares not a whit about citizen safety. He decided virtue signaling would make it all better. These creatures are simply reprehensible. I heard Michael savage talking yesterday and he was asking why does anyone need any magazine for their weapon? Why does anyone need more than one bullet at a time? He blathered about elephant hunters only used one bullet, no 30round mag. He even went on to demean those of us who actually understand that the 2A is a bulwark against tyranny of the state. Yes, I get that it may be a futile gesture if the state decided it wanted to take one person out of the picture. I even have a pretty good idea how it would go down, and who they would send. But, it won’t be just one resister, will it? It saddens me that this shooting is just bringing out the stupidity and immorality of those who are allowed access to a microphone. They have no answers, because the right answer scares them -morality is gone. We are largely a selfish, uncaring mass of brutes who only seek advantage in any situation. The worst of us hold sway over the rest of us.

Delusional. More reliance on authorities is always the answer with these ass hats. They hate the citizen. It’s always us and them.

Let’s see,
He pointed a gun at somebody…illegal
He threatened people with a gun…illegal
I’m certain Texas has a causing mayhem or some such law…illegal
He purchased firearms with the intent to harm…illegal
And don’t forget, he shot somebody…illegal
And he shot a lot of somebody’s…illegal in each instance.
Do you think he may have been menacing and verbally threatening…illegal
I’m not even really following this case so those are just off the top from somebody who has no law training. But I’m certain that just one more law would have done it and then Texas would finally have a NWO tower of babel gun free utopia the leftists keep promising.

Open Carry of any firearm is illegal in California. Somehow, this law, along with the straw purchase law, the 10 round magazine law, and the CA assault weapon ban failed to prevent the San Bernadino attacks

Another asshole politician that wants to restrict our God given right to “bear arms”. How much longer are the citizens of the United States of America going to put up with this crap and these politicians?
