Utter Disaster For Legal Recognition Of The Right To Keep And Bear Arms
BY Herschel Smith6 years, 7 months ago
The way things are going in favor of the antis while “Republicans” are nominally in control does not look good. If Democrats sweep the midterms and then manage to impeach Donald Trump, expect them to go full bore, from “universal background checks” to “assault weapon” bans and more. Don’t think for a moment because fault has been found here with Republican disappointments that the other side of the aisle represents anything other than utter disaster for legal recognition of the right to keep and bear arms.
Oh, I don’t even think it’ll be necessary for them to impeach Trump. I think he is in fact a lame duck president as I write this. He doesn’t have the backing of Congress to do anything of significance, and even if he did, given his predilection to gun control, I’m afraid of what might happen. A democratic Congress would seal the deal, and given the inactivity from the White House in the event of a democratic Congress and the unreliability of North Carolina and Florida, I suspect as I’ve said before, we have a little less than two years to get where we want to be.
Where we want to be doesn’t include the legality of bump stocks, repealing the Hughes amendment, removing suppressors and SBRs from the NFA items list, or national reciprocity. I’m talking individually. You understand that.

Grid square baby!
Everyday, i focus on my little grid square, and nothing else, always trying to improve my environment and fighting position.
This means, taking care of ones health, slashing expenses as a small, self employed business owner, to adding additional layers of supplies, of all kind.
I don’t focus on politics at all, though i know they focus on me, not much to do about that other than gather local/regional data and ask: What would Michael Collins be doing prior to the festivities, and do once they kicked off?
Getting my local/regional comms equipment, SOI’s and other like minded individuals kitted out and squared away too.
Finally, F2F meetups, discussions and training w like minded individuals, because all we have is ourselves.

Trump is toast, he can’t even get his own Justice Department to reign in outlaw judges let alone to protect him. He should of stood up and announced to the world that law abiding Americans have a right to own guns and accessories like bumpstocks. I am a one issue voter “gun rights” and when you say you intend to make me a criminal , well you’ve lost me.

While Trump is still doing a good job of not being Hillary Clinton, for better or worse, it looks like Trump was never anything but a “lame duck”. Mitch McConnell, no doubt looking out for the interests of his Chinese patrons (see Schweizer’s Secret Empires: How the American Political Class Hides Corruption and Enriches Family and Friends), and the Senate have spiked every bit of his legislative agenda, and at the current rate, the Senate will have finished their “advice and consent” of his political appointees in 11 years.

Mike, do you mean prosecutors? Because the most Trump and by extension the Department of Justice can do about judges is captured by the reputed quote of Andrew Jackson, “John Marshall has made his decision, now let him enforce it.” And that would just get him impeached sooner.
But for the DoJ itself, Trump’s judgement in picking Sessions and Rosenstein was in 20/20 hindsight horrible, very likely fatal. Unless Sessions is helping to save the Republic by destroying it with a Storm, the combination of a post turtle nominally superior to a vicious enemy is doing a great deal to sap what political power he has remaining after betraying his base so comprehensively.

No One should be surprised by Trump’s stand on Guns… He was a New York Democrat Anti-Gun fool for Decades before he turned Repuke and was (s)Elected as (p)Resident of the White Hut.
Long past Time to Face Facts, Democrat/Republican = Tweedle Dee/Tweedle Dum and Both are OWNED AND CONTROLLED by the same Banks/MIC/Financial Parasites, who Hate You and see You as a Tax Slave.
I am of the Opinion now that it would have been Better for the U.S. if Klinton had ‘Won’, because it would have caused a Direct Attack on Our Rights that would have been Unambiguous, as opposed to Trump’s Lies and Treason.

@Gryphon,
I’ve asked myself that very question. I still think the two years is better than having Hillary.

Captain – It was very Hard for Me to come to that Conclusion, even though Trump’s Origins were Obvious, as was his Appointments of one Swamp-Dweller after Another to his Cabinet. Now I am more concerned about if Trump and the neocon pentagram scum surrounding him keep Poking the Bear until We get something that will make (un)Civil War look like a Church Picnic.
I think Klinton would have “gotten the Fudds off of the Fence” quicker than if Trump gets a backdoor (or even Direct) Ban on Semis in place.
The real Conundrum is the Idea that Trump is ‘part of the System’ and Working For it, while at the same Time, so much of ‘the System’ is trying to Destroy him. What Happens if he IS Impeached?
