Admin Details On Comments

Moe Mensale, Joefour, Frank Clarke and Fred have all had trouble at various times posting comments.
This is very frustrating for me and I know it is for you. I have over 30,000 comments so far, and I must do something to manage them. @WRSA has had difficulty as well. Don’t underestimate the time it takes to do this.
So the way it is currently set up, as best as I can figure, is that the site requires moderation for the first comment, and thereafter unless I spam a commenter they are all allowed. You don’t have to agree with me in order to be moderated to allow comments.
This is true unless there are URLs in the post. Then it requires moderation, even for my own if I have a URL in the comment, and thereafter I think the process starts over again.
I do get a number of spam comments with URLs in them from all sorts of seamy places. Try to live with this until I can figure out a fix.
Thanks for your patience.

Are you saying you get one ringy-dingy when I include a URL in the text, or does it only happen when the “website” block (above) is used?

I think Pat mentioned having trouble as well.

@Frank,
I guess I don’t understand the question. I think you’re asking if you post a spam URL versus a legitimate URL. If I’m not mistaken, posting a legitimate URL (a single one) will go through, while multiple URLs will not, but I need to test that to make sure.
Again, I apologize for the inconvenience to commenters.

I just tried posting a comment with a single valid url as the only detail in the comment in the Magpul bipod article. The system responded with a “this appears to be a duplicate post” or something like that. Interestingly, what should have been the original post has never posted.
At least I know I’m not crazy. Right? I’m not crazy………….. :)

@Moe,
Yes, that has been happening with Fred. Sometimes the comment appears for me to moderate, sometimes not.
I need some help who knows more about this than I do.
EDIT: The only thing I can offer at the moment is send me all URLs, and if need be I can make a post every night (or every other night) that links up URLs from readers in a single post for commenters to comment on.
This might be a decent interim plan.

But, what if I DO agree with you? ;)
[PS. I try not to post links, unless necessary; less work for both of us …]

Pretty sure I’ve posted single URL’s before in comments with no problem. Using Chrome browser. Don’t know if that matters or helps.

It might-could be my email domain. Most new sites I interact with are now requiring that I register not using it. It’s true, there are lots of spammers and scammers on it.
