Parkland Officer Who Waited Outside During School Shooting Keeps Wondering Why People “Keep Saying I Did Nothing”
BY Herschel Smith6 years, 5 months ago
“I was trying to figure it out,” Peterson said. “I was scanning for the shooter, looking over the windows, the sidewalk, the rooftop. I thought maybe it was a sniper like in Las Vegas. I just didn’t know.”
Peterson said he took a tactical position because that is what he was trained to do. While he was trying to locate the shooter, multiple people from inside the school were calling 911.
“I could have got him while he was reloading,” Peterson said, according to the Washington Post. “If I’d just heard more shots, maybe I would have known where they were coming from.

“How can they keep saying I did nothing?” he asked girlfriend Lydia Rodriguez one morning, according to the Washington Post. “I’m getting on the radio to call in the shooting. I’m locking down the school. I’m clearing kids out of the courtyard. They have the video and the call logs. The evidence is sitting right there.”
Hey, here’s a hint for you. People keep saying you did nothing because you did nothing. And I find it disgraceful that if you had just heard more shots you might have been able to locate the shooter. What are you saying – that you actually would have chosen for the shooter to have discharged his weapon more than he did?

Former Brevard County Deputy Sheriff Scott Peterson may escape official censure and any sort of criminal or civil charges for his deplorable and dishonorable conduct – that remains to be seen – but in the meantime, there is something concrete all good people can do to show their displeasure and contempt for this so-called man – shun him at every opportunity. Refuse to interact with him unless absolutely necessary, and tell him at every opportunity what a pathetic excuse for a man he actually is.
In Great Britain during the Great War (World War One), especially in the early days of the conflict, men who refused to join the military were treated as outcasts. Suspected malingerers and shirkers were give white feathers by women on the street, an emblem of cowardice. Leaving aside the relative merits of those actions in that now-distant era, maybe it is time to revive the white feather concept in the present day for guys like Peterson.
Of course, for that to happen, our fallen and debased popular culture would have to rediscover the existence and meaning of the word “honor” – a word which has fallen by the wayside in recent decades.

What is missing, in far more than this particular craven coward, is the “honor” of self responsibility. The almost universal refusal of most people to accept the idea that they are responsible for themselves, their own actions and choices, as well as their legitimate dependents, is the missing link.
Children, including their education, is the responsibility of the parents. With the voluntary help of friends or neighbors, charitable organizations, the parents must take charge of this. Sending thousands of children into the government indoctrination camps is the reason we now have such a dumbed down population that only seems interested in figuring out who all they can control, who all they can steal from, and how they can blame anyone and everyone else for their problems. This is not a healthy society. Shunning one irresponsible person -or any number of them – won’t change that.

A man would have immediately moved to protect children without respect to shooter location.

I don’t know why Peterson is blabbering on. He’s certainly not making anything better for himself.
As an aside, ever wonder why Peterson was allowed to retire with full benefits instead of just being summarily fired? Maybe there was some quid pro quo involved in keeping Sheriff Israel’s son from being hit with a sexual assault felony charge years earlier.

“Now I ask you: If this wouldn’t have been the sheriff’s son, would a sexual assault have been reduced to a simple battery?” Borges asked in his statement. “Was deputy Peterson allowed to retire with his pension because he protected Sheriff Israel’s son from having a felony arrest? These are the questions that I and I’m sure many people from this county want answered.”
