B.C. Man Describes Grizzly Bear Attack
BY Herschel Smith6 years, 4 months ago
A Bella Coola man is recovering in Vancouver General Hospital after he was attacked by a sow — or female — grizzly bear.
Jordan Carbery said he spotted some movement outside his home sometime after 5 a.m on Tuesday. He went outside to investigate and saw some cubs in a cherry tree.
One of the cubs fell out of the tree, which was near the entrance of his home. That caught the attention of the mama bear.
“I looked over to see a sow grizzly bear looking right at me and heading straight for me,” he said.
He tried to run back to the house.
“Suddenly I was just run over,” he said. “It felt like two football players tackling me.”
Carbery found himself on the ground and “next thing I realize is that the bear had my head in its mouth and was picking me up.”
“My scalp tore and it dropped me,” he said.
The bear grabbed him again, he said, and let him go.
He tried to fend off the bear by kicking at it. “I kicked her in the face three times at least,” Carbery recalled, “and then I tried to hit her in the face in the snout. She was like a prize boxer. She was so fast.”
Carbery managed to create enough separation between him and the sow to make his way into the house.
Since he was in an area with no cellphone coverage, he had to drive himself to hospital.
As he ran out his to his car, the bear charged at him again.
Good Lord.
Sir. I don’t mean to pile on when you’re in such pain, but why did you leave home without a gun? The first time, and the second time?
Why, oh why?

British Columbia….he can’t have a gun; a handgun. And no auto-loading anything. He needs to tap into his feminine side to get any sympathy from his Prime Minister. The bear was female after all. Should get a pass from the B.C. Politburo. Men in British Columbia should not be leaving their homes in the AM. They should be in the kitchen baking cherry pies.
Cherry trees in B.C. ?? Really?

I haven’t really thought about it much but I think that humans equate large size to slow and strong, and small size to quick and accurate because of the ancestral memory of war being a mostly hand to hand affair. Animals are not humans. Their characteristics are much different. It’s easy to say but hard to convince yourself of this. TV and Disney reinforce this falsehood and an insulated lifestyle ain’t helping either.
As laws change, and animals continue to find their way in among us they must be reminded that we are not prey. Sadly, some of us are just that.
“And the fear of you and the dread of you shall be upon every beast of the earth, and upon every fowl of the air, upon all that moveth upon the earth, and upon all the fishes of the sea; into your hand are they delivered.”
It’s part of the new Babel utopia lies that we can live with animals. As much as I would like to walk up to a wild Mountain Lion and pet it (they purr, heh) we can’t go back to the garden. Animals must be reminded to fear man. “…into your hand are they delivered.” and similar passages are not passive statements throughout the scriptures. It requires us to act upon it to accomplish. It’s self evident that animals need to be kept away from us. This is the natural law.
Humans are the most dangerous apex predictor to ever roam the earth. Nothing else has ever hunted in packs of up to a million, ravaged continents, and used weapons that vaporize whole cities. If you don’t think humans are the highest apex predator, turn in your guns and see what happens to you. I say again: We can’t go back to the garden.

Actually, Lynx is the only big cat that purrs.

Not true. I’ve petted a mountain lion. They purr just like a house cat only much louder. Never petted a lynx. I’ll have work on that.

Fred;
You got to pet a mountain lion and it purred? But, but… I read that Lynx are the ONLY big cats that purr! I read it on the internet- it HAS to be true, lol! Damn, now I won’t be able to trust the veracity of my favorite source of info any longer.

Yeah, I’m losing faith in “Officials” and “Experts” myself. Aren’t lower Manhattan and the Everglades already gone, under water? Aren’t Gun Free Kill Zones much safer?
And I’ll never tell where or when as about 50 state and federal laws and regs were violated that day. One must have a couple of silly goals. It lightens the soul. New goal: Pet every native cat to North America. This is a hard do but one must think big.

Oh no, we’re both older than those guys. Just so you know; I’m Lou and He’s Bud. But I sympathize with your confusion. We were discussing the St. Louis ball team the other night and I had a terrible time with the team players names- never did get ’em straight.

“Aren’t lower Manhattan and the Everglades already gone, under water?”
Ah no, according to this website, 300 US cities will lose half their homes and 36 other cities will be completely lost, but that won’t happen until the year 2100 (so you and I will be gone long before that anyway:) )
https://www.zillow.com/research/climate-change-underwater-homes-12890/
And beside that, the “People Who Matter” live in Manhattan and so the effects of Global Warming won’t be permitted there. Florida is periodically under water every September through November anyway, so it’s not of great concern.
“Aren’t Gun Free Kill Zones much safer?
No, but not for reasons that logic predict, rather because for example, Detroit “youfs” lack basic reading comprehension (due to the indoctrination center’s emphasis on social justice concerns as opposed to such trivia as “reading comprehension”) and so “Gun Free Kill Zone” gets interpreted as “you’re free to bring your guns to the kill zone”. Thus Cripts and Bloods members stuff their Glock 40’s into their shorts on the way to school. This explains why their trousers are always riding down to the terminal end of their alimentary canal.
“And I’ll never tell where or when as about 50 state and federal laws and regs were violated that day.”
You Sir, would potentially be in distinguished company; Bill and Hillary, Mueller, Comey, McStain, ah sorry, “McCain”, and so forth.
“Pet every native cat to North America. This is a hard do but one must think big.”
I’ll be rooting for you.

Fred, the only people who think large animals are slow are the ones that haven’t spent any amount of time around large animals.
Humans have only recently become this inept at navigating and taming the wild.

Joshua, The ancestral memory thing is just a working idea as I stated. You’re probably right. It’s not understanding God’s creation and our current level of comfort and ease, which seems to be the cause of a lot of our inability to function.

I have a 2200-Pound Draft-Breed Horse, Friendly, Clumsy and Lazy. Soon after I got Him, I was beside the Barn setting up to Wash Him. A Pigeon flew out the Door at Head-Height, I Jumped Back and Fell, and that Horse was doing the last 1/4 Mile in the Kentucky Derby in an Instant.

No offense brother…Canadians and Alaskans are brothers. “PS, semi-autos are not banned in Canada”…true enough. Mini 14s and other less ‘military’ style rifles are not banned, but regulated, ie, long gun registration, ended by Harper, but again, a resurrection perhaps, by Trudeau. AR 15s are totally banned, per se, by regulation and registration. You cannot posses them without license and transport ONLY to rifle range/club.
Americans however, cannot transport auto-loading rifles through Canada. This I know.
