Heckler & Koch Fights For Survival
BY Herschel Smith6 years, 5 months ago
Financial survival, that is. But for a company, is there any other?
Whatever. I don’t do H&K myself. Too pricey, not good enough. I suspect they’re much like Colt was years ago, where they had relied way too much on military contracts and listened to the gun-buying public way too little. Colt relied on the contract for M16s / M4s, and by that time had fired all of their wheel gun mechanics. They completely missed the resurgence in interest in revolvers.
If you want to see any current evidence for the drop in quality control at H&K, watch Tim’s most recent video of his “new” HK USC .45 Carbine. Pitiful. Just pitiful. Broken front sight, magazines that don’t work, FTF. Just pitiful.

Just peruse FN’s product line and then H&K’s. A famous name is no guarantee of survival if you have nothing to offer and in this case H&K will stand for hard knocks.

Does H&K no longer warranty their products? Why does the buyer have to spend X$ to fix Y part? Sorry but that’s completely unacceptable.

H&K MP 5 was and is a great sub-gun. The UMP is a POS.

The wife has a USP .40 compact that was made when the 40SW was a fairly new round. 5000 rounds later it still shoots as tight as when new. I have a VP9 a few years old that shoots groups as tight as my Nighthawk Hi-Power. This after 2000+ rounds. The only spares I’ve bought are recoil springs. Sad to see a company known for quality do so poorly.

This is sad news. I’ve been an HK guy for a very long time; I carry a USP c in 40S&W and have 6 HK’s both compact and full frame. I also have the VP9 which is a spectacular striker gun. I’ve never had issues with any HK ever. Now, I don’t have any of their long guns but I’ve found their handguns to be extraordinary! Pricey yes but outstanding in terms of function and durability.
