Houston Psychologist: Children Inadvertently Pick Locks And Cannot Be Trusted Anywhere Near Weapons

At least four children have accidentally shot themselves in the Houston-area this year. All of those children were 6 years old or younger, and three of them died from their wounds. The most recent incident on Tuesday at a Hockley-area home left a 4-year-old boy in critical condition.
Young children generally don’t associate guns with death, and therefore, can’t be trusted anywhere near the weapon, Houston child psychologist Michelle Forrester said.
Forrester, who has been a licensed psychologist practicing in Texas since 1995, works with children under the age of 8. On the heels of two incidents in which Houston-area children accidentally shot themselves, Forrester opined that young children, including those who grew up with firearm education, shouldn’t even be in the same home as a gun.

But Forrester said young children are curious and apt to explore a home. In some instances, they might inadvertently break the combination to a lock box, she said.
They’ll apparently just hand a psychology degree to anybody these days I guess. Perhaps she ought to take a course in probability and statistics. She’d find another reason to hate guns, but at least she’d have to retool her argument and wouldn’t sound so ignorant and uneducated.

This is a good way to get even more children killed in accidental shootings. If kids are taught by their parents that guns are exotic and scary, while Hollywood and popular culture lionize guns, wouldn’t you expect kids to be curious about them? Curiosity without knowledge is a recipe for accidents. Kids should be taught realistically about guns and other dangerous things, rather than being taught based on the unrealistic fears of ignorant adults.

Good point @Ben, a bullet hole is not a small 2nd degree burn on the finger from a hot stove so learning that a gun is dangerous can’t really be a trial error thing like the hot stove effect.
Psychiatrists are witchdoctors and followers of the devil that are masquerading as scientists. They are simply charlatans who’s entire life is spent convincing others that they are actually helpful. I’m helping! No, no you’re not.
As for Psychologists, the instant they pedal something that is stepping outside of God’s Natural Law they become useless to us. Men defend that which they love. Boys, when not properly taught how to harness this innate part of their being and how discern what is a real threat then become destructive men (and therefor expensive to jail) or incompetent and therefor useless to women (except their mother, while living in her basement). Stop trying to create destructive and useless men. You need them.
