Ruger Hawkeye Long Range Rifle

This model is in 300 Win Mag, and the MSRP is apparently about $1279.
The Hunter is made in .308, 6.5mm Creedmoor and other calibers. The price point seems right to compete with the higher end rifles given the accuracy.
I predict budget-minded shooters like these rifles.

The 6.5 CM rifle has a 28 inch barrel which speaks to the ultra long range shooter.

If an interested man wants this rifle for a good price, gunbroker.com is the place you want look. Some local dealers will match GBs prices.
The Hawkeye, the current name for the Mauser type action Model 77, in that Long Range Target model is only .300 Win Mag. Not worth it in my opinion when the Varmint Target is similar and available in more desirable calibers.

One additional mention. I don’t like the Remington M700 type push feed action, never have, even though I own a couple. The Mauser type action with the long extractor has always been my favorite in a bolt rifle. It’s why I have a couple of Ruger Gunsite Scout Rifles, in .308 and 6.5CM.
My first Ruger M77 was purchased in 1972, caliber .257 Roberts with a 24 inch barrel and a long action. I was loading my own ammo back then and could seat long bullets way out of the case, which made room for more powder. There was a 120 grain hollow point that worked well, and a 75 grain varmint bullet with a calculated velocity of over 3600 fps, vaporized some gophers with that loading. I lived in Montana at the time.
