Dick’s Sporting Goods Firearms Policy Weakening Sales
BY Herschel Smith6 years, 3 months ago
Dick’s Sporting Goods reported a bigger-than-expected drop in quarterly same-store sales on Wednesday and forecast further declines this year, hit by tighter gun controls and a drop in Under Armour sales.
Shares in the company fell as much as 10 percent after it posted a 1.9 percent drop in same-store sales, bigger than analysts’ average estimate of a 0.62 percent dip.
Dick’s was one of the first retailers to stop selling assault rifles and high-capacity magazines as well as bar the sale of guns to people under age 21 following a massacre at a Florida high school in February.
The company had predicted that its hunting guns business would be pressurized by the change in policy but said the move should also attract more people to its stores.
Yep. That’s what they said alright. Somehow I doubt that this has anything to do with Under Armour sales.
I can’t think of a better company to be struggling. Schadenfreude, I think they call it.

I used to shop at the local “Dick’s Sporting Goods” back when they were still called something else – the old name escapes me – as they had a decent selection of running shoes and workout gear and clothing. The local store had, at one time, an OK though not great hunting and shooting sports section, but it didn’t take long after Obama came into office that it was obvious the chain had gone sour on the 2nd Amendment, the RTBA and the shooting sports generally.
Their selection, never great to begin with, became downright lousy. Between the obvious disdain by the chain’s management for gun owners, and the declining inventory, sales and service, leaving was easy.
I’ll confess that I purchased a pair of shoes from them a year or two ago, but that’s it. If at all possible, I don’t give my business to Dick’s Sporting Goods. I’ve also told my friends to shop elsewhere and why.
Vote with your wallet, your feet and your time – it is the only language they understand.

Y, I’ve been in dicks once in the past few years. I hate to even admit that.

May I suggest taking a couple hundred $ worth of gun-related stuff to the checkout…
then show them that you have the $ to pay for it…
then tell them you don’t spend your $ where it will be used to support the gun grabbers’ agenda…
then walk out leaving the stuff where it is.

Is Dick’s headquartered in Chatanooga? Perhaps they will have a run-in with their LEOs, because it certainly appears that they are dying of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
