CNN On What House Democrats Can Do About Guns
BY Herschel Smith6 years, 1 month ago
CNN:
Deutch said implementing universal background checks, a “gun violence restraining order,” which allows law enforcement to ask a judge to temporarily take guns away from people who are deemed a threat, and banning so-called “bump stocks,” are at the top of his list, along with other school safety and mental health initiatives.
With Democrats in control of the House, they can also hold hearings on gun violence, which they tried to pressure Judiciary Committee chairman Bob Goodlatte, the Republican Congressman of Virginia, to do last year. In March, Rep. Jerry Nadler, the New York Democrat who will take the gavel next year, said “it is long past due” that the committee address the nation’s gun laws.
Get ready for a flurry of gun control bills, but don’t blame the democrats when they get signed into law. A good number of the republicans will also go with the democrats, and my bet is that Trump will sign anything that isn’t directly opposed by the Fudds.
As long as any new controller initiative doesn’t affect bird shot and bolt action deer rifles, the NRA and company won’t oppose it.
Ted Cruz had so much trouble wining Texas and Broward County is creating votes because of immigration. Immigration from south of the border to America, immigration from Puerto Rico to Florida, immigration of Californians to Colorado, Nevada, Washington and Oregon.
When I sat in Johnston hall at Clemson in a room with 20 other guys and watched the debates between Reagan and Carter (and we all cheered for Reagan, to a man), I knew Reagan would win big, and he carried California. California used to be a solid red state. Texas would have been out of the question for democrats thirty years ago. Florida and Virginia used to be solid red states.
It has all happened because of immigration, and we are watching the beginning of the end. You all understand that, right?

Kail went commie after Reagan’t amnesty. It took one voting cycle but there was no looking back. Florida idiots voted to let convicted felons get their franchise back so there goes FL. For good. AZ is turning, GA is turning and I wouldn’t be surprised if NC is next. I see no way Trump will be re-elected in ’20. If Hitlery gets the nomination she will be president. As for the CF in Florida, Scott and Bondi could have done something about Snipes but didn’t. Scott doesn’t deserve to win this, but I still hope he does. Better make yer plans and purchases over the next 6 weeks because come January the party’s over.

Completely agree, Trump will sign gun control. Wouldn’t be surprised if the power structure cuts a deal where Trump is installed in 2020 for serious advancements in the Leftist agenda…because is this not the pattern? What progressive laws have not been conserved by the Right, every single time.

Meanwhile, in Arizona, the leftist Code Pink candidate – Synema – just somehow won a Senate seat. The governor, a neocon squish won in a landslide – but we are supposed to believe that the same people who held their noses and voted for him didn’t vote for the Republican candidate – McSally – who is also a neocon. The Democrats will win by any means, either importing the alien vote, or just the old fashioned way – by stuffing the ballot box. And the Mittens Romney Cuck Republican leaders – who couldn’t manage to keep men out of woment’s bathrooms, will surrender and apologize their way into oblivion.
This is the beginning of the end. Get the cartridge box ready. the ballot box is stuffed.

Wait for it to get nullified a couple of weeks before the 2020 November election, as just happened in Missouri.
It sure isn’t looking like we’re going to be able to vote our way out of this mess.
Although with Arizona, if they cheated by a 15% margin to get the Senate seat, why didn’t they do the same for the governor’s race at the same time? From what I’m hearing, the Democrats were able to pick McSally in the primary, and she ran a horrible campaign.

Sorry, Herschel, but blaming it ALL on immigration is a miss. Look at the demographics. No need to drill down. A general perspective is all one needs. Look at the population density. This tells the story like nothing else. As population grows, so does the liberal mindset. I’ve seen it in big cities and rural towns. The county I grew up in was and is solid red. The town is mostly blue – blue enough where the dems have controlled the town for decades. Immigrants? None when I was growing up. Zero. Maybe it can be boiled down to some “groupthink” theory, I don’t know. All I know is the greater the population density, the more liberal they are.
Virginia is turning blue because of Northern Virginia mostly, but the highly populated areas are all liberal. In NY, where I grew up, the blues just took over the state entirely. In reality is was lost long ago – I’ll point to the “SAFE” act as exhibit number one.
Let us not discount fraud AND our own helpless yammering about it. When you and I were in school, the fraud, and many other illegal activities we see today would have landed people in jail. The airwaves would broadcast shot after shot of shamed men and women lead away in handcuffs. Today? They go on a book tour. Where is the outrage?

H: “It sure isn’t looking like we’re going to be able to vote our way out of this mess.”
No, voting is just one tool. Putting ones trust in elections is folly. Remus had some words of wisdom on this in the most recent wood pile report. What he’s getting at (I believe) is what Edmund Burk called the unbought grace of life. (http://www.woodpilereport.com/html/index-553.htm):
“Alas, I’m forever disappointed at the prevailing tunnel vision on the chattering Right. In thrall to politics and economics, round and round they go, wearing the hub to an ever brighter sheen. Necessary but insufficient. Old time dive-bomber pilots called it ‘target fascination’. It could be fatal. You recognize the type when it’s one person fixating on one thing, the Fed, say, and it becomes their undeviating and only ride. So it is with politics and economics on the Right generally.
The weak sister “conservative” publications of old expelled those who talked directly of anything else. Even elsewhere, consider the Right’s opposition to unvetted mass migration, say. It’s a fundamental threat to nationhood itself, as it’s meant to be, but the Right trots out its comfortable shoes, namely, political and economic arguments reminiscent of the ‘thirties: “they’re taking your jobs,” or “they’re looting the social safety net,” or “they’re being imported as replacement voters”. True that, but again, target fascination.
The Left seems as overwhelming as the Golden Horde because there is no nexus in an encirclement. Wear an enemy out at one point, even at risk of local defeat, while the attack gains at all the others. Widen your view. Actual opportunity awaits. There are more red pills, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy.”

Towser, if you’re not aware that Northern Virginia has suffered from a massive wave of Latin, especially Central American immigration in the period where it tipped the state over to Blue, well, you’re going to have to work harder to find credible evidence for your claim that it’s more urbanization than demographic changes which just happen to concentrate in more built up areas. I watched it happen first hand in the 1990s in NoVa, but there’s lots of official data out there that you ought to be able to find to support your thesis if it’s correct.

Texas was Purple/light blue up until 30 years ago. It routinely elected democrats both as governor and to the US Senate. Remember Ann Richards and Lloyd Bensten? Jack Brooks lost his seat that year too, one he had held for over 40 years.

H – Let me help Smack Down on Towser. I grew Up and lived most of My Life in the “northern Virginia” Geographic Area. I am now to the West of that area, (but still not Far Enough to be Safe from the Fallout when the Swamp gets Nuked) and even out here, the presence of small, brown, non-english-speaking ILLEGAL ALIENS is Unavoidable and Pervasive. You cannot go into Any Restaurant, Grocery, or other Public Place without hearing that Yammering Half-Spanish mestizo dialect; most all ‘government offices’ like Motor Vehicles, local Tax Offices, etc. have LINES JUST FOR THE INVADERS who don’t speak any English.
I have No Doubt that in the 5 or 6 Counties that can be considered “Northern” Virginia, that the mestizo population is now 20% or More. They “Work”, but they do not “Produce” as even those in “Taxable” employment situations fall below any meaningful “tax Bracket”, and EVERY SINGLE ‘ANCHOR BABY’ gets Welfare and the baby mommas get the Fully Refundable $6,000 per Head “Tax Credit”. Don’t get Me started on the Nice, Middle-Class Neighborhoods turned brown as 3 or 4 “Extended Families” moved into a 4-5 Bedroom House, a Dozen Cars parked on the Lawn (or Up on Blocks) Chickens and Goats in Back Yards (or always Escaping) and the “unemployable (read Lazy) Young men in the Gangs wandering around like they Own the Place.
I could go on for 50 Pages of the Negative Impact this uncontrolled ‘Immivasion’ has caused, and so could any ‘Original’ Resident of Anyplace in the Country that has been Overrun by INVADERS.

@Chris Mallory: Jack Brooks was Democrat fixture in Beaumont until he voted for Clinton’s assault weapons ban. The locals fired him for that. Ann Richards stupidly screwed herself over by saying that she would never sign a CHL bill into law. Bush said he would. And that’s what got him elected. Bentsen was an old school Democrat who could have stayed in the Senate forever had he not thrown his name in for VP.

@Towser,
When I took training in MORT (Management Oversight and Risk Tree), of the many things I learned is that there is never just one root cause. There are always multiple root causes.
In this case, I emphasized one, to your dislike, but notwithstanding that, I’ve also focused on others (e.g., see my disdain for what Horace Mann has done to out educational system, as well as the Marxists in so-called higher ed). I wanted to focus on immigration in this post, so that’s what I did.
I cannot pen a comprehensive essay every time I sit down. None of my posts are ever meant to be read in exclusion from the others.

@Herschel ” I emphasized one, to your dislike,”
How do you get that out of “Sorry, Herschel, but blaming it ALL on immigration is a miss.”? Every following that statement is in support of that statement. NOWHERE do I say I “dislike” the immigration issue. NO WHERE! Please excuse my emphatic statements but for some reason youse guys seem to think I’m defending this immigration crap. I am not and will not. I’d be happy to put a moratorium on ALL immigration indefinably and I’m all for kicking anyone out who is here illegally.
As far as NOVA is concerned, I avoid it like the plague. In the little town nearest me, there is a hispanic grocery store. I know we get a number of hispanic migrant workers to tend tobacco crops. Even here we have more than one would expect. So, yes, I am aware we’ve had a huge influx of immigration – mostly hispanic. This has been going on for years. Is it a problem? Uhhhhhh….. YES!
Contrarily you, Hershel stated: “It has all happened because of immigration,”
Thus my response above.
MY point was and is: regardless of immigration, the more dense the population density the more liberal that area will be. I don’t give a whit who or what you pack the area with, density alone will turn it blue. This happens in small towns as well as big cities – overwhelmingly. This is an easily observable phenomenon. This concept did not originate with me, though it does ring true. If any of you want to refute and/or argue it, go ahead, I’ll go get some popcorn.

@Towser – I live in upstate NY behind enemy lines, and NY is NOT a blue state from an electoral map point of view. Cuomo, our new dictator, won only 7 counties in upstate NY. In total, he lost 47 of NY’s 62 counties. But he won all the right counties. In my rural upstate county, for example, he only won 28% of the vote compared to the Republican challenger who won 70% of the vote.
Your theory about population density turning elections blue is interesting and demanding of further thinking and investigating.
