The Life And Death Of A Mexican Hitman

BY Herschel Smith

Falko Ernst writing for International Crisis Group:

Grillo is here to kill.

Why? He can’t express a reason beyond that he’s been given a name and a face. Maybe he doesn’t need to explain any further than that. Maybe he just needs to be able to take orders from the cerro, the hills overlooking Tierra Caliente, the Hot Land, as this Michoacán region is known. Up on the cerro, the crime lords decide life and death for the people below.

Philosophy aside, Grillo kills because he’s paid for it, micha antes, micha después, half before, half after. It’s a performance bonus to complement the base salary of a sicario, or hitman, which is close to nothing.

[ … ]

On the Saturday before he goes to the park, Grillo is given a name and handed a photo showing a face, as usual. Then he spends the night in a safe house, a non-descript shanty on the outskirts of town, one in a warren of grey brick dwellings, unpainted and unfinished. Here, in the domain of the economically crushed, he’s right at home.

Inside, there’s just a bare, stained mattress with no sheets. The next day, he putters around until early evening, staring at the no-paint, no-plaster walls, wasting time on Facebook, uploading a post honouring his santita, his little saint, a death dispenser’s spiritual partner of choice. La Santa Muerte. The Holy Death.

[ … ]

Grillo’s got the face’s photo, but he needs confirmation. So he says the face’s name, when he’s just a few arm’s lengths away. The man turns around, and that seals his fate. Grillo delivers the death sentence with two shots to the face – always two shots. He’s got to be sure.

The face goes down, and Grillo leans over it. It’s part of what he does, his custom. He reenacts it for me later in the dimly lit, dusty track on the way up to his barrio, his neighbourhood in his birthplace of Apatzingán – a town known as La A in local narco-parlance – where we sit by the iron cross erected for another of his victims, struck down in exactly the same way.

There’s no life coming back to this one.

[ … ]

Grillo has a reputation in this part of town. And even if he didn’t, most folks wouldn’t want his type around. The crystal meth has gotten the better of him, his eyes beginning to retreat into his skull, his naturally dark skin fading to an ashen grey, paper-thin, precariously suspended over protruding cheekbones, threatening to rupture at any moment.

[ … ]

“Anywhere else in the world, psychopaths are a problem. But here, they’re an asset”, an adviser to the group tells me. Grillo is valuable to them – a psychopath perhaps, but a useful one.

Not to worry, I’m certain that there are no warlords or killers in any of the good folk coming across the border on a daily basis.  As Jeb Bush said, “they come for love.”  And I’m certain that there are no war refugees in the crowds either.

As I foretold, the troops at the border aren’t armed because they aren’t under arming orders and do not have border security as their mission.  But even if they did, they should never use weapons and the borders should be flung wide open.  If you don’t think so, you’re a hater and a racist.  As I’m sure you’ve been told many times.

The cartels have grown so powerful that Mexico now fits the definition of a hollow state. As internationally-respected strategic analyst John Robb explains, hollow states can become failed states…

“A failed state is a complete breakdown in the delivery of political goods (security, law, health, education, infrastructure, etc.), the dissolution of most arms of the government (often what’s left is in skeletal), and widespread chaos. For all intents and purposes, a failed state is a black hole on the international landscape. Think Syria and Libya.”

“A hollow state is different. It continues to exist on the international stage and has all the standard edifices of governance. However, it is heavily corrupted by global corporate/monied elites. Unlike a failed state, a hollow state still delivers a modicum of political goods (to a vastly diminished group around the capital) and it maintains a military. To outsiders it looks like a functional state. It has all of the pomp and circumstance you would expect.”

“However, despite this facade, the hollow state has abdicated (either explicitly or de facto) powers and territory to non-state groups. In some cases, state power is ceded by awarding monopolies to multinational corporations and “letters of marque” to financial institutions (think payday lending and financial derivatives).”

“In others, territory is ceded to non-state guerrillas groups (think Lebanon’s Hezbollah or Mexican Cartels) maintain a semblance of order, as in the “justice” enforced by Sao Paulo’s militias or the Taliban’s application of sharia.”

The cartels have hit-men and death squads operating inside the U.S.; it is simply that these assassins tend to preferentially target Mexican nationals living inside the United States, rather than U.S. citizens – one reason these incidents have flown beneath the public radar for so long north of the Rio Grande.

Significant arms caches belonging to the cartels have been uncovered on a number of occasions on U.S. soil, including caches sufficient to arm and equip a company-sized formation of paramilitaries. Including small arms, ammunition, crew-served weapons such as machine guns and mortars, claymore and other types of mines, grenades and other types of explosives, communications equipment and IR/NV gear. These cartel formations are as well-armed as regular infantry units of the Mexican army.

The Holy Bible has much to say about being delivered from the heathen. Will America heed His holy word, or learn the lessons the hard way? Either way, the lesson will be taught, and you will learn it.

“Wherefore should the heathen say, Where is their God? let him be known among the heathen in our sight by the revenging of the blood of thy servants which is shed. Let the sighing of the prisoner come before thee; according to the greatness of thy power preserve thou those that are appointed to die; And render unto our neighbours sevenfold into their bosom their reproach, wherewith they have reproached thee, O Lord. So we thy people and sheep of thy pasture will give thee thanks for ever: we will shew forth thy praise to all generations.”

Those verses aren’t talking about anchor babies, or dreamers, or a compromise that we might be bred into extinction. Read them again carefully. King David is praying to the LORD that He would bless David to utterly obliterate the heathen from among them, killing one and all that had a design upon his nation’s prosperity, land, liberty, women, and progeny.

The world’s people are mocking Christ, and making Americans, you, a laughing stock upon the stage of world history. Call on the name of the LORD and fight for your rights, yay DUTY, from which all of the LORD’s blessings flow.

The troops now being sent to the border may defend themselves. While on the surface this might seem right or even sound good, it is neither. This order fully comports with the United Nations ( UN ) Rules of Engagement, the Geneva Conventions, and the Oslo Accords.

The duty of the US military is to defend The Nation. The duty of the individual Soldier/Marine/Airman/Sailor is to, if necessary, die in defense of his nation, not to be sent into harm’s way so that he might follow some inch thick Rule Book of field morality riddles. These rules are why we have lost every war since WWII, and these same rules are why we will lose at the border.

That the US Active Military can’t operate in and around our nation’s borders is a falsehood and a travesty. Posse Comitatus does NOT amend Article 4 Section 4. It can’t. A simple statute is NOT an amendment to the constitution. The DoD has the DUTY to repel invasion. Posse Comitatus is there to remind us that the military oughtn’t to, as an example, round up US citizens in Topeka; it has ZERO to do with the Defense of the Nation under Art 4, Sec 4.

The US borders have been handed over to be a UN controlled neutral zones years ago. You’ve been had. Our military is a puppet, has been since the post WWII new world order was agreed upon. And before anybody gets all uppity at me, yes, I’m a veteran.

It is the UN treaty that defines an army as uniformed and flagged or otherwise of a Nation State. Neither a foreign or international treaty can modify the Constitution. That the invaders are not uniformed and are armed with little more than rocks and fists and teeth matters not to the LORD’s Natural Law, the Holy Bible’s Laws of Nations, nor Article 4, Section 4 of the US Constitution. The invaders presence on our border is NOT a law enforcement matter, strictly speaking. Your government is a captured, foreign operated, international corporate consortium and from what I can see, 90 percent of Americans are its willing accomplices and traitors, one and all. Evil and lies permeates everything and everyone whose supposed job it is to secure the blessings of liberty to us and our posterity. For SHAME!

Oh LORD give us a leader, a ruler, a man that might lead as iron; that would call upon your Holy name and deliver us from this evil. LORD, bring us to repentance that we might be saved for your glory and honor, though we deserve it not.

“O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever. And say ye, Save us, O God of our salvation, and gather us together, and deliver us from the heathen, that we may give thanks to thy holy name, and glory in thy praise.”

Why doesn’t the American Church talk about these things? I’m desperately confused, since being saved by Christ in 2009, why American Christians won’t push back, against anything. What’s wrong with them? The Natural Law is real and you are subject to it. You don’t have to die at the hands of an ideology foreign to Christ. You don’t have to allow the satanic sacrifice of children. You don’t have to allow heathens and barbarians to overrun your civilization. What’s wrong with you? Good LORD almighty, why won’t they fight for your holy name?

I can see that if events continue as they have, we will get increased agitation in regards “tear gas” aka agent CS and classified under the Chemical Weapons Convention as a “riot control agent”. Right now it’s being fought at the emotional level (“what about the children??”) but that will give way to legal warfare. Under the CWC, riot control agents may be used for domestic law enforcement purposes. So if we take the stance that this is repelling an “invasion” that suggests that the use is in “warfare” not “law enforcement”. The US has generally taken the position that use of riot control agents, specifically CS, is permitted in defensive military operations and I assume would argue the same for this use, but there will be push-back. There’s also the possibility that activist legal groups will try to use the Alien Tort Claims Act to bring civil action for damages in US courts.

Yep, sure does. Glad to know somehow that I wasn’t the only one to make that connection.

Robb is a bright guy who is capable of unconventional thought. His book “Brave New War” is worth checking out. It’s a decade old or more, so easy to find in paperback. Besides Robb, William Lind also uses this terminology in some of his works. Both men were acolytes of the late Colonel John Boyd, considered by some to be the finest military theorist this country has produced.
