Houston Police Department Announces End To No-Knock Police Raids

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo says ‘no-knock’ warrants will end on his watch after the controversial raid that left a man and his wife dead on the southeast side.
The announcement came during a town hall meeting Monday night hosted by the Greater Houston Coalition of Justice.
Acevedo added that any exceptions to that rule will be circumstantial, and he’ll know about it.
He also promised a new policy, stating that undercover officers will wear body cameras during a raid.

“Under my watch, we uncovered it. Under my watch, we haven’t covered it up,” said Acevedo, who was interrupted many times throughout the meeting.
First of all, if you were transparent your officers would already have been wearing body cams. Second, you’re a liar. In spite of the fact that we pointed out to you that innocent people had been killed in a botched raid that should never have been conducted, and that the whole thing was your own damn fault, you went on national television and used this raid as an opportunity to pimp gun control.
You’re a loser, and the officers involved in this deserve to be in the state penitentiary. Oh, and I noticed that this isn’t really the end of no-knock raids. Some raids will be “circumstantial.” Liar.

The officer at the center of this screwup, the one who had a baggie of HEROIN in his patrol vehicle (felony possession, minimum) at the time of this botched raid, has a checkered past:
HOUSTON – Channel 2 Investigates has obtained a single-page document that appears to encapsulate the troubling law enforcement career of Houston police Officer Gerald Goines.
The police officer in charge of January’s botched, deadly drug raid has been in many scrapes, including 10 sustained (or verified) complaints dating back to 1987.

FBI opens civil rights investigation into botched Houston drug bust, police chief says
The FBI has launched a formal civil rights investigation into the conduct of officers involved in the botched no-knock drug raid that left two people dead and five officers wounded, Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo announced Wednesday at a City Hall press conference.
But, he stressed, the federal agency isn’t fully taking over the investigation and local authorities will continue moving ahead with the criminal probe.
“What we have modeled as a police department is not a department that’s covering up,” he said, explaining why the feds did not need to take over the entire case.
Standing by the chief’s side, Mayor Sylvester Turner touted his confidence in Acevedo – who he described as a “change agent” – and emphasized the value of the ongoing probe.
“What is important is for there to be a full, complete, thorough, and credible investigation,” he said. “We want to hold people accountable if there’s wrongdoing.”
The Independent Police Oversight Board will be conducting its own review into the matter, officials said.

At Mike, in other words, “we’ve investigated ourselves and found no wrong doing.”

TLDR version: We’re going to stop no-knock raids. Except when we don’t.

Simple Proof that there are No ‘good cops’, because if he were one, the Chief would have Arrested the thugpigs who committed two Murders. My guess is the statement about no longer doing (non-constitutional) ‘No Knock’ Raids was generated by City Attorneys who are preparing to Defend the City against Federal-Court Civil-Rights lawsuits…. chances are there are lawyers researching past actions like this, and figuring out how to ‘line up’ a group of Victims for a Class-Action Suit.
I still think that the Tipping Point against the Gestapo tactics will be the Raid that goes Wrong in a Spectacular Manner, where so many Thugpigs get Baconated that the .gov won’t know how to ‘walk it back’ and the Open Season on feral (p)Orcs begins.

Wasn’t that known as Waco? At the surface level, the government got away with it. But not very far down everyone who’s worth anything knows the Feds still have a fully operational death squad.
One lesson from Ruby Ridge and Waco is that if the Feds take casualties in a “Raid that goes Wrong”, they’ll likely respond by killing everyone in sight. A bit like how the police completely lost their shit when not very smart ex-cop Christopher Dorner started hunting them, for example shooting up not one but two pickup trucks with different makes and colors.
