Mexico’s Vigilante State

That’s my title because that’s the title of the video. Forget for a moment where this is occurring, or that it’s a little dated (2016). I found this profoundly interesting, and if you watch it with an open mind I think you’ll find all sorts of lessons and tactical applications. I’ll let you fill in the details in the comments section. And I think you’ll be surprised at some of what happens in the video. I’m posting it for educational purposes only, of course.

You mean “the people” just took up arms… on their own? I mean, they didn’t beg permission from Daddy first? No background checks? No “cooling off” period? No permission slips… uh… I mean, gun licenses?
I mean, hell, if they let that go on, everything will be outta control!

@Longbow,
Did you notice the deference by the police to the local militia?

It works well when it’s local. The farther they reach the worse it seems to work. I think it’s due to the level of trust. My family and community trust me. Someone 50 or 100 miles away doesn’t. They don’t trust the military when they roll in. It’s easy for their forces to be corrupted when they don’t know the people of some distant town. Every town should be protecting themselves. It’s self defense in a nutshell.

The only reason to have these people register their guns is to take them at the first possible opportunity. Never ever register. Never ever get on the bus. Coming soon to a neighborhood near you.

Yes – I noticed the deference. I suspect that they would be just as deferential to a bunch of cartel goons in a similar situation. Being a cop or soldier in Mexico requires quite a bit of moral flexibility if you value your life.

I’ll assume all those “self-defense force” guns were legally purchased at the single authorized Mexican gun store in Mexico City.
Wait. Why are you laughing?

Drug Cartels fighting openly with the “State” and Peoples’ Militias fighting the Drug Cartels is the Evidence of a “Failed State”. How come the U.S. is not Bombing and Invading Mexico to bring them “Democracy” (and U.S. Companies could Control the Oil, too)
p.s. it’s Closer than Venezuela, We’d save on Gas Money…
