Governors Calling For Universal Background Checks
BY Herschel Smith5 years, 4 months ago
After a rash of mass shootings last month, Gov. Gary Herbert said Wednesday all gun control measures should be on the table for discussion.
Speaking at his monthly KUED news conference, the governor specifically mentioned proposals such as expanded background checks and age limits. He also brought up extreme risk protection orders, or “red flag” laws, which allow law enforcement to temporarily confiscate the weapons of someone deemed a danger to themselves or others.
“I think all of those things are going to be at the heart of the discussion,” Herbert said, adding that “we need to take some action.”
So readers in Utah may want to prepare for this. The more disappointing one for me is Greg Abbot.
Republican Texas Gov. Greg Abbott on Thursday raised concern about private firearm sales but didn’t commit to crack down on them or act on gun control issues following a meeting on ways to prevent mass shootings such as the El Paso attack that killed 22 people.

Right now there is nothing in law that would prevent one stranger from selling a gun to a terrorist, and obviously that’s a danger that needs to be looked into,” Abbott said.
Yea, that’s exactly what happens in 99% person-to-person transfers. A stranger sells a gun to a terrorist.
As I said, Abbot is the real disappointment here. I wouldn’t have guessed this of him, but here we are. It’s the thing to do – something needs to be done, and right now. So since terrorists don’t announce their intentions or wear shirts identifying themselves, we’ll just have to prohibit Bob from selling Frank that gun he always wanted to buy from him. Unless, of course, the FedGov gets their say, and their cut.

I saw a guy at a Gun Show with a T-shirt that said, Mahdi Army Straw Purchaser. On the back it said; I pay top dollar.

Uh, Hello!!! This is a BIG. FAT. LIE. It’s illegal, and has been, in Texas, Nationally, and Internationally to sell arms to Terrorists for as long as your governments have used the term Terrorist! Yes, there is law against this, unless you’re the CIA, then you can sell all the arms you want to anybody, and brand spanking new Toyota Pickups with nice flat matte desert tan paint jobs and Machine Gun mounts in the beds.

What? You want to buy a new car? Why do you think you NEED a new car? You’re just gonna use it to commit crimes, run over children and get away from the police…aren’t you?
Shouldn’t we force EVERYONE to beg permission from the FIB before they are ALLOWED to buy a new car?

They already have. From here it is just a matter of degrees.

Gary Herbert has been a turd for a very long time. He vetoed constitutional carry legislation years ago here in Utah claiming that the “permit system works just fine”. He’s a controller to the Nth degree, but hides it well.
Unfortunately, the majority of the voters here in Utah think he’s great and they think his protege, Spencer Cox, who is running to replace him, is just as great. I’ve lived in Utah my entire life, but I’m at least giving consideration to getting out. Too many control freaks moving here from places like California and destroying the state.

I have said for years, our Texas political class must screw their pants on in the morning they are so crooked. I see a lot of people writing about the fedgov being lost to us, but our state and many local governments are the same. Keep your eyes open locally, that is the one that will affect you first. There are no statesmen, only politicians. Politicians should be banned from any office, with a tree and rope for any that violate said ban.

All Federal gun laws pertaining to the People are banned since there are NO powers delegated to the fedgov for them. So we do need laws that punish politicians for banned gun laws.

@Ron w,
42 U.S.C. § 241 – Conspiracy Against Rights
Provides severe penalties for conspiracy to injure another in their exercise of rights secured by the Constitution.
42 U.S.C. § 242 – Deprivation of Rights Under Color of Law
Provides severe penalties for anyone, who, under color of law, statute, ordinance, regulation, or custom subjects another to the deprivation of rights, privileges, or immunities secured by the Constitution.
18 U.S.C. § 241
Section 241 of Title 18 is the civil rights conspiracy statute. Section 241 makes it unlawful for two or more persons to agree together to injure, threaten, or intimidate a person in any state, territory or district in the free exercise or enjoyment of any right or privilege secured to him/her by the Constitution or the laws of the Unites States, (or because of his/her having exercised the same). Unlike most conspiracy statutes, Section 241 does not require that one of the conspirators commit an overt act prior to the conspiracy becoming a crime.
As quoted at Rosamond Press (whatever that is), but it sounds like the statutes I read about a year back.

Abbott of Texas sees the end of R party (yes it wishes for death) in Austin. Years of R majorities (even super-majorities) have been squandered and now he rolls with the squishes and quislings.
Get out the kibbles & bits Greg, convince the rubes one more time that you are a friend of liberty.
Good luck to all.
