North Carolina Mom Carries Rifle To Bus Stop
BY Herschel Smith5 years, 2 months ago
Obviously we’re going to suggest no one take a firearm to a bus stop to pick up a child, but as far as criminal behavior, we can’t find a criminal violation,” said Chris Honeycutt with the Stanly County Sheriff’s Office.
Ignoring the question whether it was wise to carry a rifle to a bus stop, the Sheriff’s office made the right call here. As we’ve seen before, North Carolina is an open carry state, and that includes any firearm.
I hope that North Carolina LEOs are finally learning this lesson. It’s damn well taken long enough.

This is the kind of thinking that gets under my skin. Yes, they let the mother go, but law enforcement is always looking for something to charge a person with. This is the result of passing law after law after law to cover every nickel and dime item that someone thought was a “problem”.
Guaranteed that if they could have charged her with something (even something dumb like spitting on the sidewalk), they would have.

Rural area, school bus stop likely in front of her house, coyotes present nearby. Sounds like prudent action on her part.
I despise people who have to video everything with their phones and try to make something out of nothing.

The camera does not lie. Any encounter you have with LEOs should involve you or your representative filming it. Cop body cams have a bad habit of being turned off or defective when it comes time to hold them accountable.

But you can bet your ass they tried REALLY HARD to find one…and
quite probably are STILL looking for something they can charge her for.
