How Helene Affected The People Of Appalachia

To begin with, this is your president. This ought to be one of the most shameful things ever said by a sitting president. "Do you have any words to the victims of the hurricane?" BIDEN: "We've given everything that we have." "Are there any more resources the federal government could be giving them?" BIDEN: "No." pic.twitter.com/jDMNGhpjOz — RNC Research (@RNCResearch) September 30, 2024 We must have spent too much money on Ukraine to help Americans in distress. I don't…… [read more]

Guns Save Lives

BY Herschel Smith
5 years, 4 months ago

News from Houston, Texas.

A Houston, Texas, woman used her firearm to defend herself from five male suspects when they attempted to rob her early Tuesday. Now, she says she is in disbelief that she was able to walk away from the incident unharmed, telling a local news station, “I saved my life.”

Lachelle Hudgins arrived home around 2:30 a.m. on Tuesday, and as she pulled into her apartment complex, she noticed a group of men lingering together roughly 20 yards away. According to Hudgins, the suspects approached her vehicle, and two of them reached inside her open passenger window — grasping for her purse — as she tried to roll it up.

“I couldn’t do anything except scream,” Hudgins told KTRK-TV. “At one point, they told me to stop screaming.”

But she was, actually, able to do more than just scream. Hudgins reached inside her purse and grabbed her handgun before the suspects could. She fired off the only two rounds in the firearm, striking one of the perpetrators. “It was all I had in the gun,” she explained to KTRK. “I shot until I couldn’t shoot anymore.”

Hey, wait a minute!  This doesn’t fit the narrative of defenseless people who are too terrified to use firearms and when they do they shoot other, innocent, people rather than their assailant and firearms are more of a danger to the owner than anyone else and we must wait for the cops and you have to be a juiced up tactical super-Ninja to be able to fight like cops and none of us are like cops because of cop-land tactical training and … and .. breathless … hand wringing …

Because.  Collectivists.  Dumbasses.

Good for this woman.

How To Carry A 1911

Hammer up, hammer down, round chambered, chamber empty.

I say however you wish.  But the nice thing about a 1911 is that it has a safety.  Because John Moses Browning.  Because smart.

Libertarian Nick Gillespie On Gun Control

BY Herschel Smith
5 years, 4 months ago

This podcast involves Nick Gillespie (of Reason, a libertarian publication) discussing the coming gun control.  He is the second male to speak in the audio.

It’s a sign of the times that the woman has a more manly, robust, defensible view of rights than the men, who sound like quisling, hand-wringing, scared little boys.

There are a few things I would point out after listening to this.  First, Nick gives rather curt treatment to the notion that gun control is coming.  Eventually it will whether this time or soon.

Second, Nick waxes on and on about how resistance to gun buybacks and confiscations creates problems and makes “conservatives” look bad.  Those who are the very ones, he says, who supposedly support the “rule of law,” will be the ones opposing the rule of law.

This is what happens to unprincipled libertarians who found their rights in virtually nothing at all except that’s the way they want it to be.  It’s better for you to know and understand where yours comes from.  You have the RKBA because the Almighty says so, and any other foundation will wash away and disappoint you.  Philosophers call it a “deontological basis” for defining right and wrong.

If you refuse to found your rights on solid ground, you will become like Nick, just maybe a little more stubborn and unwilling to admit that you don’t have a case to the RKBA when the ruling elite say you don’t.

Ted Cruz And Alyssa Milano Trade Barbs On The Bible And Gun Rights

BY Herschel Smith
5 years, 4 months ago

Fox News.

“Can someone cite which passage of the Bible God states it is a god-given right to own a gun?” Milano asked in a tweet, accusing the Texas politician of being “unbelievable and clearly owned by the gun lobby.”

[ … ]

Cruz responded, telling the anti-gun activist, it was an “excellent” question, “worth considering [without] the snark of Twitter,” before citing a few examples from the Bible.

Then Milano said this.

Milano responded early Monday morning, saying she’d “love to come in and meet” Cruz when she is in Washington, D.C. next week.

“We can live-stream the meeting so the American people can hear your bullsh*t 1st hand,” she said, adding she’d like to talk about 1 Peter 4:8, which says: “Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.” [Editorial comment: So apparently covering a multitude of sins means allowing criminals to rape, kidnap and kill your family].

I don’t know who this person is.  But I want to be part of the live stream, pretty please?  I can exegete 1 Peter 4:8 for you instead of engaging in Scripture twisting like you did.

As for proof that Jesus approved of weapons, there are many passages I could cite, but we’ll start with Luke 22:36.  As I’ve discussed elsewhere, this was an important order to His disciples.

… for some evidence, see Digest 48.6.1: collecting weapons ‘beyond those customary for hunting or for a journey by land or sea’ is forbidden; 48.6.3.1 forbids a man ‘of full age’ appearing in public with a weapon (telum) (references and translation are from Mommsen 1985). See also Mommsen 1899: 564 n. 2; 657-58 n. 1; and Linderski 2007: 102-103 (though he cites only Mommsen). Other laws from the same context of the Digest sometimes cited in this regard are not as worthwhile for my purposes because they seem to be forbidding the possession of weapons with criminal intent. But for the outright forbidding of being armed while in public in Rome, see Cicero’s letter to his brother relating an incident in Rome in which a man, who is apparently falsely accused of plotting an assassination, is nonetheless arrested merely for having confessed to having been armed with a dagger while in the city: To Atticus, Letter 44 (II.24). See also Cicero, Philippics 5.6 (§17). Finally we may cite a letter that Synesius of Cyrene wrote to his brother, probably sometime around the year 400 ce. The brother had apparently questioned the legality of Synesius having his household produce weapons to defend themselves against marauding bands. Synesius points out that there are no Roman legions anywhere near for protection, but he seems reluctantly to admit that he is engaged in an illegal act (Letter 107; for English trans., see Fitzgerald 1926).

When Jesus told his disciples to go and purchase swords, debating over how many they got, or whether they used them and for what purpose, completely misses the point.  The point is that by telling them to do so, the Lord of the universe was ordering them to purchase and bear arms in violation of the law.  “This is a fact, and no amount of spiritualizing, Scripture twisting or hermeneutical machinations can get around it.”

Not only did Jesus approve of weaponry, he demanded His people purchase, keep and bear it.  I look forward to the invitation to live stream with you, Milano.

George Soros Intends To Target Gun Rights

BY Herschel Smith
5 years, 4 months ago

Free Beacon.

Liberal billionaire George Soros’s advocacy organizations are lobbying lawmakers on Capitol Hill to repeal an act protecting firearms manufacturers from liability for gun crimes including murder, disclosure forms show.

The Open Society Policy Center is Soros’s D.C.-based 501(c)4 nonprofit that works on domestic and international advocacy and is affiliated with the much larger Open Society Foundations. The center has poured nearly $9 million into lobbying a range of issues so far this year.

Soros’s group reported spending $2.6 million on lobbying throughout the first quarter, covering international, military, and appropriations issues. In addition, the center moved into gun control advocacy and reported lobbying on “issues related to a bill to repeal the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act.”

As if we didn’t know his position before.  So the Jew who helped the Nazis find Hungarian Jews wants the people to be disarmed.  Color me shocked.

By the way, it’s easy to find the “fact-finders” who claim that George Soros never said what he said about helping the Nazis.  They are all liars, or just stupid and stolid.

Watch this video if you need proof.  It was difficult to get it to YouTube without Google scrubbing it.  Google helped Soros scrub other videos of his 60 Minutes interview, but redditors found tape (and I do mean tape, in a library, that they had to check out and convert to YouTube format), to reload it to YouTube.  Because YouTube = Google = wicked.

So don’t give me any of that crap about Soros never said this-and-that.  Yes … he … did.

Or if you need any other evidence, read this transcript.

KROFT: My understanding is that you went out with this protector of yours who swore that you were his adopted godson.

Mr. SOROS: Yes. Yes.

KROFT: Went out, in fact, and helped in the confiscation of property from the Jews.

Mr. SOROS: Yes. That’s right. Yes.

KROFT: I mean, that’s–that sounds like an experience that would send lots of people to the psychiatric couch for many, many years. Was it difficult?

Mr. SOROS: Not–not at all. Not at all. Maybe as a child you don’t–you don’t see the connection. But it was–it created no–no problem at all.

KROFT: No feeling of guilt?

Mr. SOROS: No.

KROFT: For example that, ‘I’m Jewish and here I am, watching these people go. I could just as easily be there. I should be there.’ None of that?

Mr. SOROS: Well, of course I c–I could be on the other side or I could be the one from whom the thing is being taken away. But there was no sense that I shouldn’t be there, because that was–well, actually, in a funny way, it’s just like in markets–that if I weren’t there–of course, I wasn’t doing it, but somebody else would–would–would be taking it away anyhow. And it was the–whether I was there or not, I was only a spectator, the property was being taken away. So the–I had no role in taking away that property. So I had no sense of guilt.  (George Soros, 60 Minutes interview transcript, December 20, 1998)

So enough said.  He is your enemy in every conceivable way.

Argentina Mass Murders, Mass Shootings And School Shootings Since 1995 Gun Control Laws

BY Herschel Smith
5 years, 4 months ago

Reddit/firearms.

Using Google, Bing, Murderpedia, Wikipedia’s Massacres, terrorism, and familicide pages I was able to find 89 mass shootings, 31 mass murders, and 14 school shootings since their 1995 Decree 64 laws classified Semi-Auto rifles with detachable magazines higher in caliber than .22 as Weapons of War and made them prohibited for civilian use. Argentina already had strict licensing & registration since 1973. And also made handguns above the caliber of .38 illegal for civilian use in 1993 (Decree 269). All these mass shootings should have 4 or more victims in one setting, session, incident or incidents without the FBI’s “cooling off period” in between. And you should all be able to find multiple sources if you Google or Bing them. Most of the sources are in Spanish so you may need Google or Bing translate. Hopefully this can aid in correcting the misinformation that mass shootings and school shootings are a uniquely American problem amongst developed nations. And showing that that applying Western European gun laws in Non-Western European countries are ineffective.

This is too good not to pass along.  Visit the reddit link to see his observations and conclusions from the data.

Now, it certainly isn’t the case that this will convince a controller not to be a controller.  Can a Leopard change it’s spots?  A controller is a controller because of a moral defect in his or her character.  But the thing we learn from all of this is what we already know, but need to rehearse again and again in order to have moral character.

Giving up your firearms never leads to more safety, for you or your family.  Never.  It only leads to the inability to defend home and hearth, a condition which the Almighty finds unacceptable.

The Current Percentage Of Gun Turn-ins In New Zealand

BY Herschel Smith
5 years, 4 months ago

News from New Zealand.

“We’ve got about 17,000 firearms in total – those numbers are good, but we want them to be way better, quite frankly. I’ve just got to get on and make sure that we work as hard as we can. There’s six months we’ve been given to carry out the exercise.”

[ … ]

In March, the Council of Licensed Firearms Owners said there could be as many as 400,000 weapons in New Zealand covered by the new legislation – that would leave about $500 per gun.

17 / 400 = 4.25%.

That’s low, but I would have actually expected it to have been lower than that.  I’m left wondering what that 4.25% is going to do for defense of home and hearth in the future?

And I wonder what the final percentage will be?  Do my New Zealand readers want to weigh in?  I know you’re out there.  I see you.

Do I Really Have To Be A Member Of The Militia?

BY Herschel Smith
5 years, 4 months ago

Via David Codrea, this bit of interesting prose.

… by requiring that every member of the militia … must own at least one long gun, one handgun, and 1,000 rounds of ammunition for each, or pay an annual $1,000 tax for failing to do so.

To which David observes, “I do have to wrestle with the coercive nature of that and wonder if things couldn’t be worked out more along the lines of if you don’t help, you don’t get helped.”

Um … hmm …, well, I don’t know.  I’d have to think about that some.  Not, by the way, that I have a problem being someone member of a militia.

My main point has always been that while I understand (and have no problem with) the invocation of the militia in the 2A, it was the closest thing the founders grabbed at the time.  All they needed was one good reason, and that happened to be the one they wrote down at the time.  The point wasn’t to write a treatise.

The right of amelioration of tyranny (whether a member of the militia or not), the right of self defense, and the right to feed your family without having to get permission to hunt “the king’s forests,” is God-given, not depending on the constitution, the 2A, or even what the founders wrote or thought.

The constitution is a covenant, an agreement, nothing more, and nothing less.  It doesn’t guarantee anything, it isn’t the foundation for anything, and it isn’t the basis document for anything – except the vows that were taken on the part of the government NOT to interfere with God-given rights.
