Henry Side Gate Lever Action Rifle Review

At Ammoland.
For now, available only in .35 Remington, .38-55 Winchester, and .30-30 Winchester.
I saw a comment from Matt Bracken a few days ago with which I agreed. There is a good argument for having a wheel gun and a lever gun in the same caliber (and I don’t have to point out that it has to do with ammunition compatibility, with the rifle round having a somewhat higher muzzle velocity than the revolver).
But for me to become interested, they’re going to have to expand the line to include other calibers, e.g., .44 magnum.

Shot a .45 Long Colt with a Henry lever gun, must have been a Big Boy in steel but not available in Octagon barrel I think. I like the octagon barrel, they seem (I know that’s not exactly scientific or evidence based) rugged and substantial. The drawback was it’s not side gate loaded. If it were I’d look at getting one.
The thing is the ammo. I love that .45 Colt ammo, it’s smooth as butter while it does the required damage which is the proper combo for me. With the Henry, it passed my test, which is the first time I shot it, pop pop pop, right where I’m aiming with no practice and the recoil of that round is easy peasy to stay on target.
That Smitty 460 last week also takes .45 Colt.

They come out with one in .357 Mag, and I won’t be able to keep my money in my wallet.
My brother-in-law has a Marlin in .357 Mag with the 20″ octagon barrel. That thing shoots like a laser out to 200 yards. I’m sure the Henry would do the same.
I have a Henry .22 with the octagon barrel, and it is a lot of fun to shoot. Accurate as heck, too.

@Sanders,
Very well. I’ll take one in 357 magnum too!

Taurus Tracker (5 rd) in 44 Mag and Ruger 96 (lever with their 10/22 type mag).
And a Ruger BH in .357 and Rossi lever.
