Surefire Enhanced Bolt Carrier Group

I’d like some gun mechanics and gunsmiths to weigh in, but I’ve never had any of the trouble he’s alluding to. If something isn’t broken, I tend to favor not fixing it.
This seems unnecessary, but I’ll let the reader decide.

This is just my opinion; YMMV. However, I would not spend money on this BCG until I saw a lot of supporting testing where it solved an issue the normal MilSpec BCG didn’t.
Consider: the Mil Spec BCG has literally millions of man hours of real world testing showing it’s durability and fuction. The one identifiable shortcoming of the Mil Spec is it’s coating, and that can be solved by getting Brownell’s BCG that is Mil Spec in all respects except it’s salt-bath nitride treated, all for <$90. One glaring issue with the Surefire is the ONE gas key fastener instead of two. No matter what grade fastener they use, that will be less secure than the Mil Spec gas key. When you can see a potential issue at a glance, it's a good indication that there are others waiting to be discovered. IMHO, this is a solution looking for a problem, and likely to create rather than solve the same.
One thing is certain: coming from SureFire it will be an EXPENSIVE solution.

I’m not a gunsmith or engineer but I have built a number of ARs and they all function perfectly. I use the PSA Premium bolt carrier. I upgrade the extractor spring with a 5 coil enhanced one from Sprinco. I also use a Sprinco enhanced buffer spring and Spikes Heavy Buffer. I have found that this combination works flawlessly. The brass ejects at about 4 o’clock, the bolt locks back after the last round without exception, the recoil is softer and the rifle runs cleaner. The whole setup costs about $120 and should give a lifetime of shooting without a problem.

I’d rather simply have a few MilSpec spares. Ragman’s build is interesting.
