Virginia Sheriffs On 2A Sanctuaries

BY Herschel Smith
4 years, 11 months ago

Be careful what you ascribe to county Sheriffs and just how much faith you place in them.  These statements ring troubling.

Nelson County Sheriff David Hill said to him, the Constitution is the Constitution.

“As a constitutional officer — as sheriff — I’m here to protect the rights of citizens against things like unlawful search and seizure. State and federal agencies don’t come in unless we ask them to. As far as sanctuaries; the individual has the right to bear arms. As long as they have proper credentials, then that’s fine. Our office isn’t going to knock on doors and we aren’t going to allow people to come in and round up firearms and what have you. If [the individual is] mentally competent and not a felon, there shouldn’t be a problem. As long as the Constitution reads the way I read it, we’re going to be okay,” Hill said.

Hill said he believes any changes on the state level are to ensure the safety of everyone and shouldn’t impact those who should be able to have guns.

He’s surely lying or very misguided if he says that changes on the state level are to “ensure the safety of everyone and shouldn’t impact those who should be able to have guns.”

He’s surely got to know better.  He must know the true nature of the controllers, and he has surely seen the proposed laws outlawing modern sporting rifles, a feature of discussion in virtually every resolution I’ve seen (with citizens defending their right to own such weapons).  If by “who should be able to have guns” he means bolt action rifles, that won’t be good enough.  And if he means that as long as the FedGov or state doesn’t red flag someone or put them on a prohibited list then he’ll let them exercise their rights, that won’t be good enough.  He has surely read the proposed laws and seen the debates.  He’s troubled because the times are troubled, and he’s currently riding the fence.  He doesn’t know what to do, and thus reverts back to the “wait and see” approach.  The controllers aren’t backing down, and this is going to happen.  Wait and see means don’t bother me with this right now.

He finishes up with this.  “That’s the ultimate goal to keep guns away from felons and those with mental disabilities. They want to put up safeguards to keep people safe. But coming in and taking all firearms? That’s not going to happen,” Hill said.  So, he support red flag laws.

Appomattox Sheriff-elect Donald Simpson said the laws people are voicing their concerns over have yet to pass and so he’ll have to “wait and see if they are voted on.”

“Then, we’ll have to look at these laws in cooperation with the commonwealth’s attorney. Personally I’m in support of the Second Amendment and will not be enforcing any unconstitutional laws,” Simpson said.

Simpson said there are hundreds if not thousands of law-abiding citizens in Appomattox, but he believes, should some of the proposed legislation pass, they would “instantly become felons.” Simpson said for him, he feels much of the proposed legislation is unconstitutional and currently isn’t sure how his department would work with the Virginia State Police if legislation is passed.

“It’s territory we have never been in before; certainly not in my career,” Simpson said.

“Wait and see.”  “Unconstitutional laws.”  But what will you do when this happens, as it surely will?  What will you do when a judge declares that what the Virginia controllers do is constitutional, as some judge surely will?  “Isn’t sure how his department would work with the Virginia State Police.”

This is the best part.  He will be expected to cooperate fully, and according to the controllers, nothing short of this is acceptable.

Folks, in between now and just a few weeks, men will have to steel and resolve themselves and reach some point of cognitive rest on these issues.  Time is short, too short for “wait and see.”  These are issues of morality, scruples and character.  It doesn’t take bad laws to declare your county a 2A sanctuary, as we’ve seen in some counties already.  These are decisions you make long, long beforehand based on world and life view, not pragmatic concerns.

These men need to be replaced with someone who believes in something.  There are perhaps others like them in Virginia.

Red Flag laws are what communism looks like. If they don’t know that already it’s too late to educate them, because that requires honest and diligent soul searching on top of historical fact seeking.

A lot of people I talk to understand that these laws are commie, but they don’t fully understand the implications of what that means, and for their ignorance they will be made to do things that their soul abhors, or they will be bulldozed into a trench.

There is only ever one correct answer to communism; a bullet in the head. All else is mealy mouthed nonsense. If a man is unwilling to kill those who declare themselves to no longer be his countrymen, then will he die with the shame of knowing that he, as much as they, has destroyed Western Civilization. God knows the heart.

Never forget, many Republicans, including Trump have called for these laws and they think that these laws are good and necessary and proper. Anybody saying that they will fight because “Republican” is not your friend. Get that through your heads.

I keep harping on about the Bolsheviks 100 yrs ago, but it’s more than an analogy, it’s exactly what’s taking place here today. They murdered millions of Christians in a very short time and the masses never saw it coming, and here in the US the lying media covered up most of it. The same people who backed the Bolsheviks are at work today, hardly a thing has changed but time.
And again, the masses don’t see it coming. They’re distracted today by the media squirrel chases that never go anywhere, exactly as planned by the political theatrics we call gov’t.

I expected more discernment out of conservative enclaves encountered in WY than that found in MA (have worked in both states within 1 month of each other). But the fact is, they’re all more willing to believe their so-called leaders, both gov. and clergy even though they don’t trust them entirely. They still want entertainment and not facts. They don’t want to have to take a stand and think about having to defend themselves. Most shockingly, many, esp. conservatives, hold very incorrect ideas about the amendments despite their contention that they’re “educated.” It’s been demoralizing to encounter such people along the way. I will travel from anywhere in this nation to fight with all I have even to the death. The time is now, BTW, I’m female and doubt seriously that I’d find any men OR women fighting alongside me.

Viewing this from afar it seems really odd to me that there are already so many unconstitutional gun laws (uhhh all of them?) being enforced by these sheriffs pretty much all the time.

Really, this latest dilemma boils down to a bunch of sheriffs getting the queasy sense that gun law #10583 has finally poked the ants nest hard enough in a way that gun laws #00001 through #10582 never did.

They’re not calling the shots. They’re all merely getting on the safe(safer?) side of the firing squad and this latest round of tyranny upgrades has simply shifted the balance of safety from one side to the other.

Honestly, how many of these guys were letting ne’erdowells skate because the only thing they found on them was an “unregistered” firearm and “WE’RE NOT GOING TO ENFORCE ANY UNCONSTITUTIONAL GUN LAWS!!!”

Zero. That’s how many. Because to them the constitution is meaningless. “Apply as convenient”. They hold it up as immutable when social mores require that to be their position and ignore it when it becomes a hassle. Not that I don’t think the sanctuary city movement is a good development but Americans shouldn’t kid themselves that these sheriffs aren’t going to sell them down the river the moment the moment that balance of risk falls back toward toeing the line with Uncle Sam.

The individual State’s and the Federal Constitution were/are intended to be contracts. Contracts that stipulated how ‘We the People’, who are supposed to be the final authority in this republic (if we still had one), agreed to be governed.

Usurpation of power requires the death of truth as well. Hence the enshrined rights in the 1st Amendment. And the relentless attack on that as well.

Ultimately, this is about who is in charge.

    Just like CW1 really was.

OK, let me tell you guys from firsthand experience how this will go down. All of this has already been implemented in New York seven years ago.

Many rural sheriffs voiced opposition, and some openly refused to enforce the assault weapons ban. In reality what his means is the following: they will not make it a priority to seek out and confiscate “assault weapons,” but that does not in any way mean that you can still exercise your rights freely.

To their credit, I have seen rural sheriffs departments that find an “assault weapon” on a call temporarily confiscate it and remand it to a gunsmith to make it “compliant,” i.e., pin the magazine so it is non-removable, and then return it to the owner without criminally charging him. State police in a similar circumstance would charge the owner with a felony. It should also be pointed out that the sheriffs will only do this in cooperation with the DA. I have personally seen pro-gun sheriffs make an arrest and confiscate an “assault weapon,” write directly in the report that the weapon was “noncompliant,” and not file charges, leaving it up to the DA. This only happens in the MOST RURAL areas. City departments and state police will not do this and will file charges, and city DAs will prosecute fully, even in smaller cities.

However, the sheriffs who oppose the “AW ban” have also been enforcing handgun registration for over a century, and they will absolutely charge you with a felony if you have an unregistered handgun. If there is a domestic violence accusation, or mental health or “red flag” accusation, they will still confiscate all your guns. Beyond that, 95% of the law is enforced by retail dealers who are simply forbidden to sell you an “assault” weapon or hi-cap mag. No retail dealers will defy this ban. It should also be pointed out that no sheriff will openly defy the state police or try to prevent the state police from enforcing the law.

So in reality all the tough talk from the sheriffs really means that if you live in a VERY rural area with a LOT of “gun people,” keep things on the QT hush and don’t get into any other trouble, they won’t make a point of coming after you or do undercover ops or stings on you. But you still won’t be able to buy the stuff you want, and if you get jammed up by the state police or if the DA has a hard-on for you, you’re still screwed.

That’s exactly the way they did it in New York. They held a special legislative session in which they got the bill out of committee in two hours and put it on the floor for a vote with no debate at 10 p.m. The entire thing was rammed home and signed by the governor in less than 24 hours flat. This was by design, so that by the time the people found out what hit them, it was too late. By the time people started organizing protests a couple of weeks later, it was pointless.

I fault the clergy. The Churches have almost universally taught compliance with the authorities by selectively dismissing Biblical passages that go against the ecumenical direction. War is universally bad, despite all of the Old Testament battles – or the final battle between good and evil as denoted in Revelations.

In the Garden of Gethsemane, Peter cut off the ear of a Roman soldier with his sword – the assault weapon of his time. Why did Jesus allow Peter to walk around with a sword?

In Luke 22:36, Jesus said “…he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.”

In Matthew 10:34, Jesus said “Think not that I am come to send peace on Earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.”

The corruption of the Church is ALMOST complete. If your church teaches against the things as established in the Bible, you have been lead astray.

    A good start is 1 Corinthians 14:34-35.

Great comments – but there should be 100,000+ by now. Not 35 by 20 posters. This is why we’re doomed. Semper Fi said it best; ‘distracted by media squirrel chases’, and these people ARE a liability.

    A few notes through a lifetime of experience;

    1. Be careful of those NEXT TO YOU who are quick to incite violence and ‘let’s go kill them now!’ outbursts. IT IS WELL-PROVEN these people are generally ‘plants’ from the FBI or other ‘law’ enforcement, trying to goad others to violence so the can Ruby Ridge you. ‘Vet’ any and all you can.

    2. MOST will not fight. Most will cower. Most will be worried about their paycheck, especially if they have families. They’ll ‘go along to get along’. Most believe everything they’re told, anyway, by proven liars.

2a. What? 70% of the nation is paycheck to paycheck? Think THAT is an accident? No. It’s so people don’t do ANYTHING but go to work.

    3. The press (yes – ‘your’ press you listen to or read) is so controlled and so corrupt that you will be immediately vilified as traitors, terrorists, psychopaths, etc. Get used to it.

3a. Virtually EVERYONE in this nation is ‘asleep and a sheep’, and will believe anything proven liars tell them. They do NOT want to know the truth. They want to feel like they’re not doing anything is on the side of ‘right’ so they can sleep well at night.

    4. In an estimated population of 2.2mil at the time of the American Revolution, only 10% took at active role. WE WILL BE LUCKY IF EVEN 0.5% NOW STAND THEIR GROUND. Still an awesome number, BUT….

    5. The police, military, NG, (and quite possibly NATO) etc., WILL FOLLOW ORDERS, and WILL KILL AMERICANS. Do NOT delude yourself into thinking otherwise. Ask any soldier and they will tell you they WANT to go to war to kill. Being able to ‘go home on the weekends’ just makes their job even better!

    6. Do NOT look to anyone else. America’s ‘Exceptionalism’ is their incredible gullibility and a collective, room-temp IQ, and if SHTF, they WILL HATE YOU. Until they’re hungry or THEY get caught up by ‘law enforcement’ for doing nothing (not at ALL hard these days with out Police State, trained in apartheid Israel), then they’ll either turn you in, or run to you for protection, having “always thought you were a good person”. They just disguised it well with their disdain or hatred of you.
