Bedford Militia Muster

BEDFORD COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — A militia muster call in Bedford County on Saturday afternoon drew hundreds of local residents willing to take a stand to protect their community and their Second Amendment rights.
On Saturday, Feb. 15, more than 500 people showed up to the militia muster call in Bedford County to volunteer their energy and their skills to the cause. As advertised in the flyer for the muster call — which was posted on Facebook on Jan. 30 — registration for the militia was open to all able-bodied residents between the ages of 16 and 55.
I do have an issue with the age limit of 55. I think I’m in better physical shape than 50% of those guys.

And this showing is proof that the rally in Richmond was a success. “A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.”
Well done.

“able-bodied” should be exactly that. Age is a state of mind if you’re able-bodied.
I doubt most youngins could keep up with me and I’m in my sixties.

And besides, there is more, not only that can be done, but more that must be done outside of having the ability to ruck 20 miles. Even outside of age, home or perimeter, or group defense is as important as forming ranks and marching off to war. All of these men have houses and wives and children.
Which reminds me, do you trust every one of your brothers at arms with the life and integrity of your wife and children should you be called away, or heaven forbid, get called home to the Father?
**Warning** don’t line up and march into this war in 2nd gen formation or 3rd gen mobilization. You will get creamed, and I mean in an ugly way, creamed. This is a fight in which the Patriots must be an intractable enemy. Unless of course, you can muster a million men to burn DC to the ground and hang everybody there by the neck until dead. But nobody will do that, because “my guy” got elected, and he’s an elitist Statist Zionist NWO minion bent on my disarmament and destruction, but he’s *sniff* “my guy.”

That cutoff at age 55 is nonsense. I’m 66 & run 6-7 miles every morning followed by a 12 station Nautilus workout at the community center. In between I swim, ruck, box & shoot. I’m going to be in damn good shape when the “festivities” begin. The Old Freedom Fighter plans on winning, too. So do a lot of age 55+ guys I might add.

And one more thing (that’s not a promise, heh) this war will be won by those who can think critically and creatively, and be absolutely ruthless.
If you try to fight by the Geneva conventions you will lose, and lose badly. The rules in those conventions appear nowhere in the Holy Bible. There are no limits to war, just win.

If there is a CW and I think it has a 70% chance of happening, it will be won with thousands of small 3 to 4 member cells and hundreds of thousands of the H. Bowman types. It will be a war of attrition and one that breaks the will of the enemy. Make them feel unsafe everywhere they go and know they most likely will not be going home.
As Fred said, you will need to be ruthless.

The physicality is less important than the brains and the heart. I’m 71 and had a motor stroke a decade ago. I’m not going to be keeping up with anyone. But I can organize, coordinate, think, recruit, strategize, map, cook and handle a firearm from my chair. An M-1 carbine was issued to the cooks in WWII.
Attention to the proper and effective use of one’s talents is appropropriate, as well as other testing and vetting, but liberty does not have the freedom to reject people until they prove themselves unworthy of it.

Well, at 69 and after 3 cancer surgeries (successful, I might add), I won’t be out running the trails with the youngsters anymore, but I can man a static position with the best of them and probably know more about EmComms than 95% of the folks who qualify for their guidelines… A shame they don’t appreciate the abilities of folks like us oldsters….

Others have made the physical case RE the “age” limit – I’ll not add to that.
BoyDownTheLane brings up something they (and others) should add to that discussion when it comes time – the issue of those the “age” would omit if applied arbitrarily, excluding some who may bring value in terms of management/operations coordinating skills or – better – be really good at that bread & butter of an auxiliary, logistics. Without a logistician in even a small group you are going to find it hard plowing.

I wonder if that age range is defined in their state Constitution. It sounds familiar like I’ve read that’s what the founding Fathers intended.

Should be based on ability not age. When TSHTF everyone that can shoot straight will be an asset.

American farmer and soldier Samuel L. Whittemore, born in 1696, had served as an enlisted man in the Third Massachusetts Regiment during King George’s War (1744-1748), and later in the French and Indian War (1754-1763), despite being in his sixties by that time.
On April 19, 1775, as Whittemore toiled in his fields, he spotted a British relief force approaching, which had been sent to reinforce British regulars returning from Lexington and Concord. Grabbing his musket and sheltering behind a low stone wall, Whittemore ambushed the Grenadiers of the 47th Foot Regiment as they approached, killing one Redcoat. Drawing his dueling pistols, he killed a second enemy soldier and mortally-wounded a third. As the British detachment broke ranks and charged his position, he drew a sword and fought them hand-to-hand.
Left behind for dead in a pool of blood, with at least one gunshot wound and several bayonet wounds, Whittemore was found alive by Colonial Forces. Not expected to survive his wounds, Whittemore rallied and survived another eighteen years to die of natural causes at the ripe old age of ninety-six.
