Virginia Gun Laws Update: No AWB This Year
BY Herschel Smith4 years, 10 months ago
Via WiscoDave and WRSA, there will be no AWB in Virginia this year.
Senators voted to shelve the bill for the year and ask the state crime commission to study the issue, an outcome that drew cheers from a committee room packed with gun advocates.
Four moderate Democrats joined Republicans in Monday’s committee vote, rejecting legislation that would have prohibited the sale of certain semiautomatic firearms, including popular AR-15 style rifles, and banned the possession of magazines that hold more than 12 rounds.
I strongly suspect that the 2A sanctuary movement across the state, combined with the firm intent to use it and oppose this infringement, factored into the decision. Combine that with the question I posed to the Virginia legislators, and that should have made for a more studied decision on their part.
I posed the question in a blast email “There will be massive non-compliance. What does that say about your laws, and how do you intend to enforce them at that point?” And yes, I did get some responses and a lot of page visits when I sent that email out.
But no so fast. According to this update from VCDL, there are still problems looming.
We are far from being out of the woods. Red Flag laws, Universal Background Checks, and destruction of the firearms preemption law are still very much alive this year.
It could be that they want the legalities in place (i.e., state preemption laws) before attempting such a thing. Also, red flag laws are possibly the greatest infringement of all, and they are still alive. And universal background checks are just another way of saying “gun registry.”

I wonder if that age range is defined in their state Constitution. It sounds familiar like I’ve read that’s what the founding Fathers intended.

This is obviously good news, but let us not take the wrong lesson from it. This is not entirely the triumph of lobbying. Sure, lobbying and the rally did help, but ultimately this was the triumph of locals with roots in the community over foreigners and carpetbaggers.
Make no mistake, the AWB was being pushed by the Tribe — Delegate Levine, Speaker Filler-Corn, and Bloomberg and his billions of shekels. They are rootless cosmopolitans with a country of their own in the Eastern Mediterranean, yet because they think they are The Chosen, they decamp for Virginia to tell the local rubes and hayseeds they don’t need those guns. Because, after all, every one of the Virginia hayseeds is a nascent Hitler, and the only people who need guns are the IDF and the “settlers” on the West Bank… right?
And they ALMOST succeeded. The were barely stopped by people like Craigh Deeds, whose family has been in Virginia for generations. Despite the fact that his nutcase son tried to stab him to death and then shot himself, Deeds could not bring himself to vote for gun confiscation because he would be disarming HIS OWN PEOPLE, whom he has to live with for the rest of his life, and they would have never let him live it down. People like Deeds cannot just pack up and run to New York or Tel Aviv after doing their damage, they have to live in the nest they have fouled.
THAT is the lesson we need to remember… blood, soil, family, state, and culture, not lobbying, saved the day.

The failure of these laws is NOT a victory for the right…..merely a bump in the road for the left. As long as the gun grabbing commie bastards of the demonrat party are capable of turning oxygen into carbon dioxide they will
NEVER give up on their efforts to totally disarm us. These laws that failed to pass today WILL be reintroduced OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER until eventually they pass. The commie left can try a thousand times and win once and THEY WIN. Those opposing these laws can win all but one of those thousand attempts and the ultimate reality is WE LOSE.
Till THAT METRIC is changed by the elimination of those seeking to destroy freedom their victory is inevitable.
