   I think you always see the variance between clinical types like these ER docs and academic researchers and epidemiologists. But from the MSM all are treated as “experts” since journos lack the education to do more than just take notes. The WSJ did note Fri the great reduction in ER visits for cardio and stroke among other serious conditions. While “stay at home” may reduce the onset of some of these things, fear of entering hospital is probably a bigger factor hence covid is killing more than just the positive.

   As far as death certificates, I have done some online research in the past and have come to the conclusion that “cause of death” is mostly an opinion. Over time the biases at work in these opinions are probably more or less constant or slowly changing, but in a rapidly changing environment, opinions can change markedly and rapidly so it probably isn’t valid trying to compare to the past without sampling death certificates and validating the cause of death.

   I have to wonder about guys like Wintemute and JHU epidemiology programs which have made “gun violence as a health epidemic” a centerpiece of their research. Kind of totally missing the boat.
