Trudeau Bans Shotguns
BY Herschel Smith4 years, 6 months ago
Via David Codrea, it isn’t just rifles he’s interested in. News from the land up North.
A government official speaking on background at a technical briefing for journalists said the number of these now-banned firearms currently in circulation is unknown.
Some of the firearms being prohibited are currently classified as “non-restricted” — mostly firearms like shotguns — meaning licensed owners do not have to register them with the police. (The long-gun registry was abolished by the previous Conservative government.)
There are 105,000 firearms currently classified as “restricted” that will now be classified as “prohibited.”
The government official said that, at the end of the two-year amnesty, gun owners must dispose of the firearm or they may be able apply for the firearm to be “grandfathered.” Details on the grandfather process would be released at a later date, the official said.
As we all know, that’s the purpose of a registry – to know who has them and where to go to pick them up (by them, I mean both the guns and the people).
Y’all folks in Canada are in a bad way, being subjects of the Queen. The truth is, however, we may not be far behind.
You have two years to make your plans. Don’t turn in your guns.

Gun registry’s are not needed. A law abiding citizen registry is all they need to lay the grounds for confiscation.
The government knows exactly who owns firearms here in the US. Do you really think those 4473’s are not on file somewhere?

No government wants you to have the same kind of weapons it plans to use on YOU.
Oddly enough, for all the times we hear bullshit like “Nobody needs an assault weapon, it’s only purpose is to slaughter as many people as possible” nobody bothers to ask why cops need them… are we to assume, then, that the cops are planning to slaughter as many people as possible?

@X, awe, I don’t think an assumption is necessary seeing as how there is ample historical evidence in the affirmative. So yes, your neighbors are planning on mass murdering you and they will be wearing some type of costume when they try.

Western Canada needs to kick Eastern Canada to the curb. Don’t secede, expel.

Ned2 – I agree. Government has multiple ways of tracking gunowners. Title 42 U.S.C. § 666a(13) provides for social security numbers to be collected for “any applicant for a professional license, driver’s license, occupational license, recreational license, or marriage license…”
It doesn’t take much imagination to understand that collecting identifying numbers for “recreational licenses” like hunting licenses would give government a list of people who have applied for hunting licenses. Those people all probably have a gun.
I’ve always found it to be a bit creepy that the collection of this information just happens to be §666. And that you can’t get any of these licenses without disclosure of a number to the government.
