Phoenix Police Department Cop Shoots Home Owner In The Back Three Times

News from Arizona.

Ryan Whitaker was sitting at home with his girlfriend playing video games when he was killed by police.

A noise complaint from an annoyed neighbor resulted in cops shooting and killing a man within five seconds of him opening his front door.

Ryan Whitaker opened the door holding a gun in his right hand which is legal in Arizona but it made the cops fear for their lives.

However, the cops never gave him a chance to put the gun down which he appeared to be trying to do when one cop shot him in the back three times.

“Why did you guys shoot him?” Whitaker’s girlfriend, Brandee Nees, yelled as she stepped into the doorway.

“He just pulled a gun on us, ma’am,” Phoenix police officer Jeff Cooke said.

“Because it’s dark and someone just knocked on the door,” Nees responded.

When Phoenix police officer John Ferragamo asked Nees if she and Whitaker had been fighting, she told him they were only playing video games.

“Literally we were making salsa and playing Crash Bandicoot so there may have been some screaming from PlayStation but it wasn’t domestic violence or anything,” she said.

The incident took place on May 22 after an upstairs neighbor called police to complain about the noise.

“I gotta get to work tomorrow and I’m getting no sleep,” said the neighbor in the second 911 call he made to police at 10:44 p.m.

When the dispatcher asked if the verbal argument has turned physical, he said it had turned physical but sounded as if he was just saying that to get police to respond quicker.

“It could be physical,” he said. “I could say yeah if that makes anybody hurry on up. Get anybody here faster.”

The cops arrived eight minutes later and knocked on the door with one of them yelling “Phoenix police” before both of them stepped off to the side, making it impossible for anybody to see them through the peephole. When Whitaker opened the door with the gun to his side, the cops shined their flashlights in his face, blinding him before noticing the gun.

“Whoa! Hands! Hands! Hands!” Ferragamo yelled as Whitaker lowered his body with his left hand in the air and his right hand appearing to be putting the gun down.

Cooke then fired three times, shooting him in the back.

And just like that, he’s dead.

If cops ever wondered why they’re hated by Antifa and patriots alike, look no further than this example.  The tell-tale sign of a problem is that the victim was shot in the back.

In … the … back.  As he was trying to get on the floor.  Video is at the link.

There are two criminals here.  First, the 911 caller should be charged with a false police report.  Second, the cop should be charged with homicide.

Not fired, not investigated by internal affairs, not hidden from public view, but charged and imprisoned.  The video proves what he did.  What more is there to know?

Really ? You’re actually going to push this garbage ? Police respond to a call , have a gun pulled on them and they’re supposed to . . . . what ?

Hey buddy is everything okay ? jeez that’s an awfully big gun you have there. Would you mind putting it down so we can talk ?

Back in the day courts knew what police officers had to deal with because they dragged that vermin in every day. Now every scumbag that decides to have it out with the cops somehow turns into a vaunted saint.

Keep it up. Guys are retiring everyday. So when you squealing like a little girl in the middle of the night ” Where are the police ” remember you asked for it.

I will never squeal in the middle of the night asking for a cop. I had a Chicago PD cop come in and comment the same thing one time. I laughed. I told him I’d call when it was time to draw the chalk lines.

He answered the door with a gun. If you answer the door in the middle of the night without a gun, you’re an idiot.

I feel like a broken record. The Captain has said this numerous times – dont call, dont talk to police. Dude made the mistake of opening the door. Points for going to the door armed but fail for opening it. Case in point, I mentioned my most recent run in with LEOs RE malum prohibitum laws – namely, riding my beach cruiser without lights at night. No ID, no mood to self ID, detained, berated, cuffed, threatened with a night in jail because I “committed a crime” and then gave false info. Uneffing believable. The very same morning (2AM), the same cops are flashlighting my APT backyard. I ask why, they say neighbor says somebody giggled her door buy no neighbor in sight.

And, 6 hours the same morning, the cops are knocking on my APT door, 3, 4 times. Saw them thru the peep hole, never answered, never said boo – nothing good EVER comes from a police encounter.

@Lancelot. Hey cops****r, did you even read the article? They were playing video games. The guy who called practically admitted he was making up the DA charges so it would illicit a quicker response.

@Lancelot, what the bloody hell do you think would happen to you if you shot someone…in the back…three times. Your thin blue coward was a p***y and you are even worse for defending him. Natural selection is a thing and you just may be swimming in the drowning end of the gene pool. Good riddance.

@Lancelot, just saw the squealin’ part, project much? You gotta be an east coast Yankee. Bruh, like The Captain said, we call the cops to bring the chalk and body bags. Seriously, I pray you dont but you prolly live 30 mins from me in CLT. You sold your $750K piece o crap 3/1.5 on Long Island, maybe moved to the Peninsula, or Waxhaw or Monroe. Ran away from the taxation, regulation and crime but brought your s*****y statist worldview just the same. Pack up your silk screen shirts, Mebers Only Jackets and platform shoes and go back to the Bronx, or Pattersob or Glendale Heights or Foxboro – whatever.

@sirlancelot: The way you get to the bottom of a police shooting is to ask yourself if the circumstances were identical but it was an non-LEO involved shooting, what would happen. In this case the shooter would be arrested for murder.

The officers went to the man’s home. He has a right to carry in or out of his home. The crime rate is quite high in Phoenix Arizona. We have seen many instances of criminals doing home invasions while claiming to be police. The victim acted well within his rights.

The victim’s weapon was not “pulled on them” (the police) and never raised or pointed at the police as you state. The weapon was at the man’s side. This man used good judgement in not raising the weapon when he realized the people were police officers and he was murdered for it.

  9. On August 9, 2020 at 10:15 pm, Danny said:

@George1 but that’s the rub no? If you or I shot someone in the back – under any conceivable circumstance – what’s the result? Endeavoring for anal cavity integrity in jail, red flag gun confiscation (if you are dense enough to have all your bang sticks in one place) now wifey is disarmed, pariah in the community and likely jobless due to the relentless demonization in the local press – guilt by association (how could she have ever married such a fiend) and on and on and on. So, in addition to CCW insurance, sage advice from another commenter a few posts back, perchance a NFA gun trust is wise council even if you dont have NFA toys a la suppressors and SBRs. Now the stash is part of a legal entity with a corporate veil of protection. Maybe, I am not so confident considering Leviathan’s response post shoot – good or bad. That said, 6 inch barrel mounted hearing protection is on the Xmas list.

sirlancelot, white knighting douchebag for leos everywhere, says police “(had) a gun pulled on them.” Bullshit and you know it. The murdered guy was basically swatted. You know that too if you bothered to follow the story.

This has been big here in AZ for months. Resident answering door with a gun in his hand is a far cry from “pulling a gun” on police. And he was obviously trying to put the gun down and comply when he saw who it was – he was just shot in the back quickly and repeatedly before he could completely and satisfactorily “comply.”

Police won’t stop commies from destroying your business and property, but they will arrest you and put you in jail for criminally attempting to keep your business open. They won’t arrest you for painting commie BLM slogans on the street, but they will arrest you for chalking “black child lives matter” in the wrong zipcode.

So yeah – they can all go TF home. Won’t miss em. They’re only needed to shoot dogs and homeowners and obey the mandates of the governor in helping to crush the economy.

And of course to draw chalk outlines on the sidewalk when they return after the riot is over.

If you “need” a cop, there’s one hiding just around the corner – who will arrive well after the shit show is over. And you know or should know the police have no legal duty to protect any citizen, but have qualified immunity if they happen to murder one.

Bingo. And cops behave like that because they suck with firearm proficiency and they know it.

There is something wrong with a person who applauds shooting a kneeling man in the back several times within seconds of him opening the door of his own home.

Just don’t open the door. Demand that they identify themselves. Call 911 yourself and verify if you can’t do it any other way. Stay back from the door in case some eager wannabe SWAT commando forces the door. We are at the point where an armed citizen need to fear stupid police as much as criminals.

I am fully aware that if I ever have to use my EDC to defend my life and family in public I am likely to be shot by the first cops to arrive at the scene. It should not be that way in America.

This was murder and the cops ought to be fired and charged. And then sued civilly for anything the criminal courts overlooked.

20 yrs ago I called police to report my mail box was blown up with a pipe bomb. I found the ruptured pipe 75 ft away.

It was the last time I will ever call police for anything. After 5 hours of bomb squad, postal police, city police, county sheriff, ATF, and FBI I became their suspect, as they had no other leads.

It was then I saw how they work. Never trust anyone in law enforcement. Never. Get a lawyer immediately. And never let them in your home or garage
