John MacArthur: “We’re Having Church!”
BY Herschel Smith4 years, 3 months ago
I have a lot of things in common with John. He is a reformed Baptist, and I hold completely to the Westminster Confession of Faith, so he and I differ on baptism and eschatology. Other than that, I’ve enjoyed his sermons when I’ve heard them. He is a decent and honorable man, and a good teacher.
He stated in an earlier video (if I’m not mistaken) that he hadn’t had any pastors in America – any pastors in America – contact him and offer support, prayers or encouragement for his stand against the state and intent to have worship services. Ponder that.
Churches have shut down all over America based on the word of the state, while making [false] claims that the Christ is the head of their church. Christ is indeed the head of the church, but not the head of fake churches.
American seminaries have raised several generations of weak, effeminate, Biblically illiterate hypocrites who believe that Jesus was a Bohemian hippie flower child peacenik. What would these pretend men do in the early church?
At the time of the Roman arenas, elders would baptize new converts, with both pastor and convert knowing that as soon as the baptism was completed, they were going to be arrested and thrown to their deaths. Today in America, pastors cannot even bring themselves to be faithful to the apostle’s command in Hebrews 10:25 when the state gets pissy. God help them if they were to have to mount horses and drive raping, murderous invaders out during the Crusades.
It’s truly a sad state of affairs. But if nothing else, this has done a lot to pull the mask off of the fake church (pun intended).

“American seminaries have raised several generations of weak,…”
One major national SBC cemetery(yes) in KY, makes everybody, staff and student, sign a new agreement, that they will do everything the government instructs. Everything!!! It’s very open ended and non-specific. Even if I weren’t Christian I wouldn’t sign any such agreement with any organization. I fear these people have no king but Cesar.
This section of Scripture from Hebrews that includes the command to assemble in His name has so very much to offer.
“And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. He that despised Moses’ law died without mercy under two or three witnesses: Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace? For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people. It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.” – Hebrews 10:24-31
That last, verse 31, should matter. We speak of reverence as the fear of the Lord but that always bothered me a little. Nobody came, or will come, face to face with Him and not know in that moment that everything about them is unholy, filthy, and perverse. These verses are quite judicial in their approach; how much more will be the Judgement of those who trod the Son of man and despised the Spirit of grace whereby Christ has made us free? We are made free to serve Him, and Him alone and not given general license to sin, and especially not to choose another master.
When Jesus saves a man from sin and wrath and death and hell, as he gave His life for you; you now give your life for Him. Do you get that? You owe Him your life, you are now His servant and that means that you can obey no other master.
When Jesus Christ saved your soul, you commended your soul to Him, and you are now His by blood covenant. A man should have fear of the Lord, actual fear. When you see Him as He is, you will not be standing at all. No man can stand before Christ. You will be flat on your face, as dead, unable to move, fear-struck when face to face with pure Holiness; words cannot describe the terror of the Lord. In that moment, until you hear Him say; fear not, what will you do? You will be scared out of your mind, you will know the fear of the Lord and you will know that He is Holy.
Many on that day will not hear Him say those two precious words, perhaps the most important of any two in the entire bible; fear not.
Since Adam sinned; they all fell on their face. Even, the apostle whom Jesus loved fell down as a dead man:
“And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last: I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.”
It’s a blood covenant you fools. There is only one way to hear those two words; be saved by the blood of the thrice holy resurrected Christ of God, offering your life as He gave you His, and follow Him, even unto the death. Not your church, not your government, not your daddy, not your baptism, not your religion; you must be born again into the Kingdom of God, and follow Him.
If you know that you will hear “fear not” from Him then you literally have nothing to fear in this life. There are two kingdoms and you can only be a citizen of one. Choose this day, what master you will serve.

I can’t find many Christians who agree and support John MacArthur’s bold statement and actions, much less pastors.
