Talking to the neighbor yesterday, he said the local Academy has had people camping out over night before truck deliveries for the past month. He was hunting for some 12ga. Ended up finding some goose loads at the local Dicks, a desperation stop after he had hit every other place in town.

Yeah, the problem for us regular shooters is not stock-piling for SHTF scenarios, it is maintain an adequate amount of practice ammo. It’s a little hard to go shoot off a couple of boxes of 9 mm to maintain proficiency when you don’t know if you’ll be able to replace that ammo for the next range day.
Heck, I’ve even looked for black powder percussion caps thinking I could just shoot my cap-n-ball pistols. No luck there either. As for reloading, I have my supplies but with no new primers available eventually I’ll run out.
Bottom line is that the SHTF stockpile doesn’t need to be that big. A few hundred rounds in several common calibers is generally enough. It’s the practice ammo that gets you in a bind. People just need to relax a little.

That SHTF stockpile needs to be as big as a person thinks they need it to be. Many folks are late to the party and bemoaning folks who made decisions over a year ago.

Exactly, Wes. Those of us who haven’t purchased ammo since 2006, and can sell it all day long are not the issue, or a concern. The people who are buying it from me, cash in hand at 5X what I paid for it, are. My wallet has cleared $4K in cash over the last 4 weeks, ammo out, building supplies in. I could probably have another house in place and not just some renovations before I’m done selling. Hell, the remaining lowers I have left from the business will probably put the cats and dog through college before I’m done.
Like the meme ” The guy who just started paying attention”,,,, those guys are driving the market right now. Not the manufacturers, not the guys who stock it, not the guys who stocked it.

They should all just grab a bunch and run out together without paying for it. Wearing a mask has it’s advantages!

I know from hard experience with the last ammo grab during the Obama admin. that there are guys out there (some are retired with nothing better to do) that sit waiting to pounce on the arrival of ammo at the local Walmart or online at Bud’s or wherever and after buying up as much as they can, literally buying for lead and selling for gold, they turn around and resell on gunbroker.com at scalper prices. This time around, with Biden arriving, the threat of supplies being cut off is real though. And personally, I believe that sloJoe ain’t gonna be around that long- Kamala has been chosen to take his place though he might not realize it. As a matter of fact, in order to speed things along, the left might even consider giving Joe the same treatment that Justice Antonin Scalia received- just speculation on my part, of course.
