John MacArthur, discussing joy, obedience to God’s law and sanctification. Here is the takeaway: “You know you’re a Christian not by the perfection of your life, but by the direction of your life.”
See 28:17 – 32:17 of this video.

This is so frustrating. The guy asking the question in the section of the vid spent 12 years wondering around listening to fools. I don’t blame the guy, I blame the American Church. The Churches are awful at the great commission, terrible, no good, lazy, horrible at it.
It’s a main reason why, that not only is the church in America falling into ruin, but so it the whole country.
I did this for 2 or so years, thank the Lord. Then a very small group of guys who met weekly invited me to work through the book of John together with them, taking it verse by verse, section by section in context and writing what we saw and learned from each verse/section, then gathering to share what we learned and gently correcting and guiding away from error. I grew at a very rapid rate.
That poor guy in the vid is still taking milk, when he should be what?
“For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.” Hebrews 5:12
“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” 2 Timothy 2:15
What does the great commission say: make new Christians, train and equip them, send them to make new Christians, train and equip those, send those to make new Christians, train and equip…
The American Church has made the great commission the great omission. A body that does not multiply and grow dies.

The modern church is focused on “growth,” the end result being an mile wide and an inch deep.

But growth toward the wrong end. Here’s why. Ready…gross reciepts and total head counts must be reported to their debt holders and to the IRS. So, those are their masters, to whom they report.
Growth of men, in Christ, through teaching them “all things which I have commanded” so they may grow in depth and breadth of knowledge and understanding, BUT NOT TO THAT END, that those men known of God would then be effective at being Christian; which is to make disiples of Jesus Christ, who then go make more diciples of Jesus Chirst. Making Church goers under the Interanl Revenue Code and bank note holders is NOT the commision. Making disciples is the commision. This is the growth that Holy God demands. It’s not a suggestion. The Lord Jesus will not be mocked by bankers and the IRS.
The best part of the covid shutdowns is the seperation. Let’s find out who the real Christians are, one clear indication of which is those who will not forsake the assembling together. “Ye shall know them by their fruits.”
