If I remember correctly, my 14.5 BCM came from the factory with dimples for the gas block bolts.

Shit happens and there are occasional bad batches of anything. If the gas block isn’t anticipated to be removed often, I like to stake the set screw with a punch. Dimpling helps with the set screws being sunk in slightly to be better staked in my opinion.
Though, pinning is for sure the best, especially taper pins.
