Is anyone surprised that Texas police would oppose the exercise of God-given rights without their approval?

I laugh when people tell me about how “good” Texas is when it comes to firearms laws.
Texas is terrible and lags many other states in this arena.

Those police are in the large cities. They, as a group, are not the best of the best. They are basically soldiers, sworn to protect their enemy, have officers that are willing to help the enemy, and those on the front line will eventually be as brutal as the SS in Germany during the second world war. They can’t function as peace officers, and there is no peace.

No suprise here. I have yet to hear of any LEO organization, fraternity, or group that stands up for the Second Amendment. While individual officers often support gun rights their leadership drink the communist kool aid of. citizen disarmament.
Its interesting that those who swore an oath to protect and defend the Constitution choose to attack and destroy the single most important amendment ever written by the Founding Fathers. From lawmakers to judges to cabinet heads, governors and police chiefs, they organize for and demand the abolishment of the Second Amendment. I contend these people are the communists and traitors.
The man who stood on the smoldering remains of the bodies of Branch Davidians in a victory pose, David Chipman serves as the poster child of the enemy we face. This man is a traitor to the Constitution and an enemy of all who cherish existance of our great Republic, the United States of America.

The Constitution is clear. I need nobody’s permission or a “bill” to exercise my rights. Stop asking people, we outnumber ALL of them. Go about your business, understanding clearly the cops, sheriffs, and deputies, and for sure .gov are not your friends and could care less who or what you do and are…

Police all over the country are generally against your Second Amendment right.
They like their sweet qualified immunity so they can dodge their personal responsibility and get away with stuff that would put you and I in jail for the rest of our lives.
They are a protected class that will never relinquish the special status they’ve been given, so treat them as the enemy.

The fraternal order of police are always at the state capitals in committee hearings testifying against pro gun bills and always testify in in favor of anti-gun bills. These scumbags are just an extension of moms demand action and michael bloomberg’s org mayors against civilian ownership of guns.
When this marxist revolution they are waging finally goes off the rails in our country the good guys in law enforcement are not going to be showing up for the job and if they do and they don’t follow orders they will be replaced by people who will follow commie orders. The police are not on your side nor are they your friends.
The thin blue line will be the enforcers, enablers and defenders of communism.
You have a totally out of control federal government (Insert many state and local governments here) and total lawlessness within every institution of government in the United States now…where is law enforcement folks??? they’re nowhere to be found except for upholding and defending this communism. Their oath means nothing.
The truth is they’re on the side of whoever is supplying the 401k retirement package, the dental plan, insurance and healthcare benefits.

Our Constitutional Carry bill in Indiana died this last session after it seemed to be flying through the process and one assumes that the police were working behind the scenes to sabotage the legislation.

Don’t confuse these 4 with the general feelings of most of Texas. Just outside of all of these cities you will find deeply conservative and 2A believers. The problem is just like most of these big cities across America in they all live together and tend to dominate some issues. However, remember how 2020 elections in Tx were supposed to show that big blue surge? That never happened. Except for a few border districts, conservatives and moderates made huge gains. Hispanic conservatives won offices all along the border and in a few big city races. The Republicans have a chance to make some huge gains in the Hispanic community in Tx if they don’t screw it up.

Having grown up in Texas, it does not surprise me one bit. Texas was always a DemonRat stronghold until the election of Ronal Reagan. Police Chiefs are State employees. The wielding of State power is their primary function. If the peasants are armed they might get the idea that they are not subject to arbitrary Sate Control. Simple, huh?
Now is the time.
Right now… is when those Law Imposement officers who are in the “Vast Majority”, who stand by their oath of office, who believe in and support the Second Amendment, to make themselves heard. Right now is when they should speak out individually and through their professional organizations. Right now is the time to be vocal, to testify before the legislature, to write letters and make public statements.
Right now… is when those good guys who work for ATF, you know, the “Vast Majority”, the street agents, not the higher ups, who want to go after gangsters and international smugglers and such, to leave honest gun owners alone, who support the Second Amendment, who stand by their oath of office, to show themselves individually and through their professional organizations. Now is the time for them to make public statements, to testify before Congress, to write op-ed pieces for their favorite publications and blogs… to BE good guys, not just wear the party dress. Now is the time to say, out loud and for the world to hear, “We oppose David Chipman for director! He is a Statist asshole! He doesn’t speak for us! We believe in our oath of office! We support the Constitution! We support the People’s RIGHT to keep and bear their own arms!”
Once again, I think the opportunity will pass and we will hear nothing but… crickets… from… you know… good guys… vast majority.

Since when is it the business of politically appointed police chiefs to speak out against proposed legislation? Aren’t they supposed to impartially enforce the legislation that the legislature passes?
Their job is to STFU and enforce the law, NOT act as a lobby.

Prime Example of police, sheriffs, and others in action and attitude: evidently the esteemed legion of LA County Sheriffs are out vaccinating the shut at homes, the handicapped, and the homeless against Covid-19. Whether they want it or not. Twitter has several videos of people screaming no, being held against their will, and being jabbed with who knows what substance. A County Sheriff’s office no less. Talk about violating the Constitution. Who are THEY to violate anyone’s sovereignty over their own bodies? This is the insanity that this country has descended to: we are cattle to be tagged, shot full of drugs, and killed when it is convenient.

Cops aren’t angels. They are either politicians (sheriffs) or appointed by politicians (everyone else.) Their top 2 goals are protect themselves and protect their pension, not necessarily in that order. The individual might be sympathetic to you, but not more sympathetic than they are to themselves and their retirement.

Others have done so, but I just want to point out again that nobody should be surprised that the police chiefs from the large Democrat controlled cities are the ones doing this. I’m not a knee jerk badge supporter but being a police chief in a Democratic controlled large city is absolutely a political appointment and their political maneuvering should not be construed to represent the attitudes of their own rank and file, much less the police forces of the entire state.

I’m not a fan of permitless carry unless stiff penalties are included against criminals carrying concealed or open. 10 years no parole for illegal carry is about right, first offense. Subsequent offenses add another 10 years.

I remember when I was in the military, showing up in uniform advocating for one side or another of anything was against the law.
these cops are free to have an opinion. OUT of uniform. their opinion has the same weight as anyone else. IN uniform they represent the state, and should have no opinion on if the legislature passes a law or not.

And they do revel in their ‘only one’ status.
We may now watch the Texas two step, wherein a bill passes the house and dies before it gets across the corridor to the senate. (works both ways, have watched it play out in other years on other topics)

Generally, it’s always the police chiefs, who are political appointees that serve at the behest of their political patrons, who are against anything that promotes gun rights.
Sheriffs trend the other way, as they have to stand for re-election.
Case in point, NV. Nevada used to allow police chiefs to have a say in reciprocity of CCW permits. So, naturally, AZ permits, which had been accepted were then deemed no longer valid in NV. The sheriffs of NV managed to remove police chiefs from having any say in reciprocity, and, AZ permits were once again recognized.
Yes, yes, I know not all sheriffs are pro gun. But, conversely, not all police chiefs are anti gun.

“Group of Texas Firearms Instructors Oppose Constitutional Carry”
* https://www.ammoland.com/2021/04/group-of-texas-firearms-instructors-oppose-constitutional-carry/#axzz6s8sv1YTh
[SNIP]
The group led by LTC instructor Raul Camacho of Safety Measures, LLC held a press conference in front of the Texas Capitol where they called on the Legislature to vote down House Bill 1911, which would allow for permitless carry in the state. Camacho is also a board member of Gun Sense Texas.
In the letter, the instructors claim to be strong supporters of the Second Amendment but are opposed to any bill that would allow Texans to exercise their natural and Constitutionally guaranteed right to bear arms without the state government’s permission. The group wants to be able to “vet” the people who want to carry firearms. They compared having a license to carry permit with a privately owned shooting range having rules for using their range.
