   Ezra Levant knows more than most the tyrannical impulses of the Canadian government, since he and his friend Mark Steyn had to survive virtual star-chamber proceedings conducted by one of those nebulously-named “human right commissions” they have up north. Their “crime”? Criticism of Islam.

   Under the frankly-communist rule of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau – who has accomplished the improbable feat of making his old man (former PM Pierre Trudeau) seem like a moderate – overt hostility to Christianity is now in the mainstream of Canadian public life.

   It doesn’t take much to connect the dots and draw the proper conclusions: The “red-green” alliance is a going concern, and together (unless they are stopped somehow) the communists and the Mohammedans mean to crush their shared enemies – namely, what remains of western civilization and Christianity.

   A century ago, the tottering Ottoman Empire was called “the sick man of Europe,” and everywhere one looked, European civilization and Christendom were ascendant. Today, the roles have been reversed – and sensing weakness, the ancient enemies of our civilization have again gone on the attack.

   * – Malkin is mistaken about the presence of socialism/communism, but her over-all point remains valid.

   If Americans wish to see what the communists have in store in this country in the near-term future, they need only cast their gaze towards our northern neighbors.
