After watching this, it’s no wonder that Remington went belly up, since the best rifles are being produced in Riihimaki, Finland.

Probably the finest bolt-gun I ever owned was a Sako-made Beretta. Beretta did the wood & finery to be a companion to a line of their O/U shotguns. But THE GUN was all Sako. 30-06. A bit heavier barrel than American, and in profile looked to be chambered in something heavier. With the wood used it was also a bit heavier than most American fare, less “Safari-grade” stuff actually in the big calibers. But that full 24″ barrel actually lent a balance that made it swing like a 30-30. Just a joy to shoot. And it was MOA with factory fodder if I did my part, well under that with my favorite 165 grain handload. And the action ran like butter. Fittingly, I actually sold it to a fellow who wanted it as his “light” rifle in Botswana so it fulfilled its destiny. I like to think there’s a photo of it somewhere with a nice Lechwe or Sitatunga…
