Oh good. This is part of a series. I’ll try to find and embed them all as they come out. Anything Ernest says is worth hearing. I wish I could take a pistol course with Ernest.

Thanks for the vids. Always helpful
Often, I compare what I see and hear today to what I learned from reading the 1942 classic, “Shooting to Live”, by W.E. Fairburn and E.A. Sykes. What I value from Fairburn and Sykes is their experience in the field, dealing with real world threats (mostly pre-WWII), without modern pistol optics.
Modern pistol optics seem great at the range. How have modern pistol optics affected “hit results” and final outcomes in present-day self defense shootings? I don’t know the answer. I’m just curious, for the sake of discussion. Any thoughts out there?

Billria, that is a great ?.I have a few friend with pistol optics but most have nothing more then say “night sites”ect.I will say people who open carry my area while I do not stare just interested and again,do not at least remember seeing optics but perhaps many have holsters that are covering them as some do and some don’t depending on user.

The anticipating vid is great. One thing I noticed is that he had to keep telling the guy to take the slack out, then break the trigger. I’m not against a purposeful two step trigger pull while learning to operate it smoothly and quickly. Always start slow and increase rapidity of shots only as fast as you can while staying accurate.
Usually someone who anticipates the shot doesn’t trust either himself or the weapon. That’s a little training tip for you all that’s especially useful with women beginners. Hope it helps.
