The New Marlin 1895 SBL .45/70 Rifle Is the Best Lever-Action in the Company’s History

If you believe him, this new Ruger (Marlin) lever gun is getting 1 MOA with .45-70.
I will remark that it’s beautiful.

I do know that Ruger has one chance to get this right. It looks great. The price is about where I thought. Likely the one he has is the low end of the line that will be produced. Coming out with the 45-70 first is smart.
I really want one but am very interested to see if they will make a higher end traditional walnut or something like that.
I have thought that Ruger would try to go higher end than Henry. This is also a smart move instead of going into direct competition at the entry level. Ruger is making good decisions here. Both Marlin fans and folks new to Marlin such as me, will want them. I know I do.

The guys on Sagebrush Longshots do some impressive long range shooting with their lever action rifles, so I can believe it.

That would take some deer for sure. But 1200 is a little steep. Have to think about it for a time.
Good looking gun and looks like Ruger put quality back in it

@Fred,
I feel sure they will come out with the Walnut furniture. I’m also waiting on the 30-30.

Excellent. The wait is over and as expected, Ruger didn’t disappoint. All of the quality you’d expect from Ruger while staying true to Marlin, right down to the checkering pattern.
The red bullseye is a really classy touch.
As far as the price is concerned if you think $1200 is steep and don’t get one now I can guarantee you in a couple of years you’ll be saying “I wish I had”, after two years of Bidinflation have done their thing.
That rifle looks solid as a rock.

Well, when BHA wants to sell me a rifle in 454 Casull for something less than $3000+ let me know.
Until then, I’ll have to seek out a more affordable rifle.

@george is comparing Marlin to Big Horn. Ruger knows what they do well; good quality PRODUCTION firearms. Big Horn, after a deposit, will personally call you to discuss the custom build that you desire with a wonderful selection of personal touches at a variety of price points starting at $2500.00
The two companies and their weapons are not comparable to each other. It’s like insulting Toyota because they are not Lamborghini.
