In Cherokee, N.C., Elk saunter down and across the road, oblivious to traffic, and with no known enemies.
A Mink in the Florida Everglades drags a snake across the road, apparently its meal for the day.
An Eagle eating a carcass gets replaced by a bigger Eagle. Apparently, they don’t believe in sharing.

The (re-) introduction of elk without pumas, bears, and especially wolves will prove to be very problematic over time. The coywolves are a little small. An elk herd is just too much risk to take on when smaller prey, such as your neighbors cat fluffy, will do nicely. These herds will draw predators into the suburbs. The elk aren’t stupid, they can avoid bears and get plenty of well curated grass and plants in semi urban areas. But the predators will follow.
All weasels are vicious little varmints. I wouldn’t corner one. With the “exotic” non-native species now living in the everglades maybe some of the more rare weasel family can make a comeback living off of these reptiles.
And eagle. The so called majestic lion, king of jungle, eats more leftover jackal and hyena kills than the other way around. So to, do eagles eat more carrion than most understand. There’s even a reference to it by our Lord Jesus Christ in Matthew 24:28.
The “world” at that time, and especially Israel, was under military occupation by the Romans. The Roman legions would carry a banner with an eagle depicted on it. Everyone at that time would have known precisely what Christ meant when he said: ” For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together.”
Everyone hated to see the Roman legions marching into their district. It meant nothing good was about to happen. The plain mean of the first section of Matthew 23 starting around verse 23 and into Matthew 24 down to around verse 34 is that the Romans were about to be used by the Lord of hosts to destroy the temple and with that bring in complete fulfillment of the Old Testament ending the prior religious system of animal sacrifices. Jesus Christ himself, the only truly spotless Lamb of God was soon to be the final sacrifice once for all. The law and prophets (OT) were being fulfilled in Him.
And with the temple, all Jerusalem would soon be destroyed, and Judea and greater Israel with it, for the rejection by that generation of the Christ of God.
These birth pains were all part of the birth the New Covenant, a better covenant, with all men that by the grace of God salvation had come to the Jews first and also to the gentiles and even to the heathen in the uttermost parts of earth and by these means, Holy and Almighty God birthed the church of living God and completed the Old Covenant.
What’s stated here is largely seen as heresy in America’s Churches. But be not deceived, in order to read Matthew 24 you MUST read 23 with it. The temple and Jerusalem with it was indeed destroyed in the year 70ad by the Roman armies just as out Lord said it would. And indeed, there was the banner with its eagle flying over the carcass.
Even John Baptist tried to warn them.
“But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come? Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance” Matthew 3:7-8
Read the entire statement by John Baptist in Matthew 3 and it’s parallel in Luke. And consider carefully what he means when God spoke through him about the sons Abraham. Consider this with Galatians 3:7, and 16.
Behold, the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

I can vouch for the Elk in WNC/Cherokee, as i often go there to stalk trout, literally on the Oconaluftee River on the Reservation, I have been in the water, up to my waist, and have had Elk, simply come out of the woods and head into the water right near me…
First time it happened i about shat my waders!

They were killed off in the east but are indeed native. They have also been reintroduced in East TN.

B) deer like to stand in the middle of the road in the dark

and F) deer run in packs of three to more than ten.
Every company van had front-end damage from deer strikes; it happened so often the maintenance people ignored broken grilles and dented fenders as long as all the lights worked and the hood would still open.
