Carry A What With Your Kit?

Interesting idea. I would never have thought of that.
I don’t get failures like that, but I can see it happening if you use cheap ammunition that is out-of-round or balloons upon firing it. Or perhaps it might be much more probable with extremely hot weapons after firing a lot of rounds without a chance to cool.

Neat. Now I have another non-standard use for one of those things.

Have you ever wondered why a painters most valuable tool has a bottle opener on one end?

This will be the most useful thing I learned today, as I recently had need of exactly such a “fix” with a brand-spanking new AR-10.

That’s for when you woke up that morning and forgot to exchange the round in the chamber for a new one. Moisture in the chamber jammed the case after you fired that round and it failed to extract.

I guess us old useless range guys are just functionally fixed–We just use cleaning rods to knock out cases. Someone should probably check the edges of the extractor claw for wear and maybe the brass shavings/gook that builds up in there. A ridge of that crap will gradually get in there under the extractor on the bolthead outside rim wall where you can’t easily clean with a patch. Same way with the shank of the extractor that goes into the bolthead. A dental pick or something like that should be run in the rim of the bolthead under the extractor about every 200 rounds. Especially on a LR308/AR10.

I also predict a near term “run” on these things at hardware stores….

That looks like a good idea. It looks like a tool like that with a bend at the correct angle would be about perfect.

Might have to get one of those. Have some with paint on them but a lean one would be nice

This is a sterling example of a tacticool moron with his silly shit..
Always carry a cleaning rod. You’ll need it anyway to maintain your weapon.
