First Time Seeing An AR-15 In The Ukrainian Conflict
BY Herschel Smith2 years, 8 months ago
I have been watching (perhaps not closely enough). This is the first time I’ve seen anything other than COMBLOC weapons.
It also appears to have a nice charging handle (perhaps a Raptor charging handle?).

These types of charging handles are excellent. But I would prefer the latch to be on the other side, the middle finger being stronger. Or maybe it’s just me, I have a tendency to lead with that finger which makes releasing the latch a little bothersome. Practice also solves this kind of thing but under duress, who knows?

looked like an Aimpoint T2, current generation on top too. I couldn’t tell what the lower receiver was by markings.

Firing an RPG at a tank, run back to reload, then run back out to the same spot to shoot again? Quick way to win a Darwin award, not smart! Not to mention using that house as ‘cover’ from tanks.

I wonder if that is his personal weapon. Looks like these guys were trained in the US, by US instructors.

I’m wondering how available 556 ammo is? I’m thinking not very.

Could be an American advisor either US Army or a contractor. After the second RPG is loaded you can hear someone say “Up and at them”.

Do not be surprised when more of these weapons show up. You need to understand that Biden is supplying these bastards and trying to destroy Russia’s oil industry. He will fail miserably.

@Randolph Scott,
” … these bastards …”
You don’t know that. You just made it up for lack of anything better to say.
You’re letting your hatred get in the way of clear thinking.
You don’t know a single one of the guys in the video, nor a single person in the Ukraine army, and I sincerely doubt you know anyone from Ukraine.
You don’t know they’re “bastards.”
I don’t recall anything in Scripture that says upon birth, all Ukrainians must live their lives ensuring Putin’s supply of oil to all of his customers. If you do, cite it chapter and verse.
I’m sure there are bad actors on all sides of this. The common man in the military, and the common man who is a pipe fitter, welder, roofer, electrician, mechanic or machinist, isn’t the bad guy.
You are not in control of geopolitics. You are only in control of what you do and how you respond.
As are the Ukrainians.
Focus. Don’t get distracted.
Stop being emotional.

All men have a duty to defend their soverienty. I like Canadians, but if they were to attack why would I care about their oil sands operations?

@Herschel
Thank you for your response.
I do get emotional sometimes and maybe I get a little out of control on the internet.
As Archie Bunker used to say, I’ll try to stifle it.

@Randolph Scott,
I came down a bit hard.
Here’s the thing for me. I’ve been trying to focus those around me, in my circle of influence, to see that they aren’t in control of geopolitics.
God controls everything and it will all end to His glory. In the mean time, we focus such that we obey him, we prepare, we plan, and we execute according to His law, and in order to help our family and those around us.
Sometimes I think the “narratives” are all intended to force us to lose laser focus on those things. None of the narratives are right, because they aren’t Biblical narratives.
Wickedness is everywhere, including every government.
Like George1 said the other day: “There are no white hats in this conflict …”
I am a common man. I can discuss geopolitics. I’d rather not. I’d rather sit down with a mechanic and talk about his labor and his family.

It definitely looked like a 5.56 AR (you can see a Lancer mag at one point in the video). The Ukrainians were testing some 7.62×39 ARs a few years ago (look up the WAC-47) but as far as I can tell they weren’t issued in large numbers. I would be curious to see them in action (and read AAR about their efficacy and reliability).

I am extremely suspicious of these kinds of videos.
Russia has a first rate army – which means that they don’t drive tanks around without an infantry screen, tanks don’t wait around to get shot up, and people who stand up nice and straight with an RPG 100 yards away get chopped into little pieces by multiple machine guns.

I agree with Drake. Question everything that we’re seeing. That helo shoot-down video from a few days ago where the camera angle was just a little too perfect, and that the camera moved like it was on a tripod. It seemed staged, or was an old test.
On March 8, 2022 at 1:36 pm, Herschel Smith said:
Good grief.
Guys, focus. The discussion is on an AR-15, not what you think of the conflict.
I don’t really care what you think about the conflict or flow of information.

Yep. Agree. Just like John Quincy Adams:
“Wherever the standard of freedom and Independence has been or shall be unfurled, there will [America’s] heart, her benedictions and her prayers be. But she goes not abroad, in search of monsters to destroy. She is the well-wisher to the freedom and independence of all. She is the champion and vindicator only of her own.
She will commend the general cause by the countenance of her voice, and the benignant sympathy of her example. She well knows that by once enlisting under other banners than her own, were they even the banners of foreign independence, she would involve herself beyond the power of extrication, in all the wars of interest and intrigue, of individual avarice, envy, and ambition, which assume the colors and usurp the standard of freedom. The fundamental maxims of her policy would insensibly change from liberty to force…. She might become the dictatress of the world.”

@X,
The point of the post was an AR-15. Stay on point.

Not only does that look like a Raptor charging handle, it also looks like Magpul back up sights as well.
Now, I wonder how those type of rifles found there way over there…
Not really, I don’t wonder, I know.$$$

My point is that this is propaganda theater that could have been filmed anywhere except in actual combat. So the prop rifles may not be in the Ukraine.
Another problem with the video – they are using the old dual-purpose warheads which are worthless against even older tanks. An RPG even theoretically capable of a 1-shot kill against current Russian armor would look like this.
