Animals: What Would We Do Without Them?
BY Herschel Smith2 years, 9 months ago
My goodness I did love my Heidi and mourn her loss to this day, my red and rust Doberman, all 92 pounds of her sitting in my lap like a lap dog.
This Dobie is just sweet and cute as she can be, and is crying over seeing her first love. It’s worth the few seconds it takes to watch this. I want her. But I’m not mean enough to take here away from her love.
This dog doesn’t much like lemons.
This Raccoon likes to drop her kiddies off at baby day care.
Here are pictures of a rare sighting of a wolverine in Yellowstone.
A stuck goat. Maybe he should have kept the goat.

My new rescue, an 80# pit/lab mix is under 2 years old. He was abandoned on a back road outside of a little shithole village. He found his way to a friend of mine’s house, and he promptly drove him 4 miles to the local high school and that evening he was back. While I was visiting that evening, he came right up to me, looked at me with those brown eyes, filthy, covered in mud and needed a friend. My friend had already rescued two that found their way to him so I went ahead, against my wifes wishes, and loaded him in the back seat of my truck.
Upon arriving home, we both got in the shower and the dirt and mud circled the drain for good amount of time until he was nice and clean. He had already been neutered but was very rambunctious, and chewed anything not nailed down. I had taken the winter off work so I had plenty of time to train him and acclimate him to his new home. (about 6months)
Now, my wife works days, and I work nights, so he’s only in the cage for 2.5 hrs, 3 days each week. He has separation anxiety so when I get home, he sits and waits patiently for his release and attacks me with licks, jumps and slapping tail. He gets along well with the other 4 dogs and 9 cats. Well, 8 cats. One cat just won’t be nice. But I’m sure it’ll get better. He’s incredibly smart and a quick learner now that he knows he has a family now.
I just can’t wrap my head around the fact that some people can just toss a beautiful animal like Rockie out in the cold to fend for himself, possibly getting harmed or worse in the process. Someone just didn’t have the patience for a young, strong energetic pup who just needed some training and love. He patrols and would protect my house and all in it with his life. I’m sure of it. And like there is a heaven for us, there is a heaven for dogs, cats, horses, and other intelligent animals. We all get bonus points in the after for helping our fellow humans and animals. Thanks for the vids, Herschel.
