I Built A $400,000 Shooting Range In My Basement

“The Collector” again.
I left a comment. Awesome range, but does the ventilation system include charcoal adsorbers and HEPA filters to remove the lead and copper before discharge (there are other things to consider, but these are just two)?

I’m reminded of the time a WA state gun store/range had employees help remove the backstop and get lead poisoning. How’s he going to repair/replace the backstop without contaminating his household and occupants? https://www.king5.com/article/news/local/bellevue/bellevue-gun-shop-fined-23480-for-exposing-workers-to-lead/281-307931895

@Matt @ Chris,
I’m sure he’s a nice guy. He seems like it over video. I’d like to meet him and view his collection. I’m also certain he has the money to do it right.
With that said, hiring pros doesn’t necessarily mean they know everything.
There’s a range right down the road from me which doesn’t filter its exhaust air. I’m sure the lead and copper concentrations in the soil and groundwater surrounding the range are high.
Involving folks to design and install and test charcoal adsorbers and HEPA filters is expensive and time consuming, including the TAB (testing and balancing) folks and folks who do penetration tests on the HEPA filters with DOP,

The problem I’ve been trying to solve is a 600 yard tunnel insofar is there are no basements in South Florida. We have septic in the neighborhood, if ya know what I mean.

Okay, Russell. When you finally build your 600 yard underground range you better be posting a YouTube video with a UAV flying down the length of it. This I’ve got to see. :-)

Why build it in the basement? With his financial means, why not put it outside? Can’t be for lack of real-estate. Convenience? Neighbors? Local ‘laws’?
It wasn’t for OpSec, that’s for sure. “2 semi-trailers, 3 guys, 1 month …”
Now, A LOT more people have been in his basement, and looked around.
